A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo)

Chapter 421 Making a Big Fuss

Hayley understood what Gordon meant. She might have had a poker face, but she actually felt a little annoyed at the Jones family.

She was invited to the banquet as a guest. When she lost her ring and sought the Joneses' help, however, the head of the family merely went through the motions and didn't genuinely want to help her.

He was utterly irresponsible.

Gordon wasn't aware that he had left a bad impression on Hayley's mind. Turning around, he socialized and shared drinks with the other party guests.noveldrama

"Ms. Jenkins, where did you lose your ring? Have you checked the surveillance?" Melody asked as she flashed Hayley an apologetic grin.

Hayley glanced at Melody, unable to shake the feeling that Melody was too enthusiastic. It almost felt that Melody was even more anxious than she was.

Instead of soothing her, Melody was very eager to search for her ring.

Regardless of Melody's intentions, all Hayley wanted was to find her lost ring. She pointed at the restroom, responding, "I lost it in there, and I'm on my way to check the surveillance."

Melody's gaze immediately became shifty. She looked at John and suggested, "Since we're going to check the surveillance, you should go ahead and get it. I'm going to look for the ring with Ms. Jenkins again."

The Jones family had shares in this hotel, and Melody was technically his superior.

It didn't matter whether John noticed that there was something wrong in the footage; he would still take her side, with no questions asked. He turned around and made his way to the surveillance room.

Hayley shot Melody an irritated look and asked bluntly, "Do you not believe me?" She had said a few times now that the ring wasn't in the restroom.

Why did Melody insist on searching there again? Did the Joneses suspect that Hayley used her ring to extort them or stir up some kind of trouble?

Melody grinned and explained, "It's not that I don't believe you, Ms. Jenkins. I'm just worried that we might falsely accuse some poor souls. It would be better for everyone if we actually found it in some obscure corner of the restroom."

Hayley sneered. She responded as she walked toward the restroom, "It would seem that you're very sure of yourself. Well, let's take a look."

Melody was aware that Hayley was annoyed, but she didn't give a damn about it. All that mattered was that the security footage was dealt with. That way, Sierra wouldn't be able to defend herself when the ring was found.

Anticipation flashed in Melody's eyes as she curled her lips. She could see it already-Theo would sever his ties with Sierra after tonight.

Once she and Hayley were in the restroom, she pretended to scour the place before she pulled out her phone and asked John if he managed to find anything.

A pleased smile flashed across her face when he said that the security footage was corrupted. However, she adopted an apologetic expression when she turned around.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Jenkins. The security camera outside the restroom was spoiled, and we couldn't repair it in time. So..." She left her sentence hanging.

Hayley's expression darkened, and her heart filled with rage. She had jumped through so many hoops only to come up empty-handed. She couldn't help but speak menacingly.

"I don't care how you do it. I want you guys to find my ring today. Otherwise, the news about the Jones family abetting theft will be released on the internet tomorrow.

"If you guys are so incapable that you couldn't keep your party guests' personal effects safe, I will call the police and file a report right now."

Melody hurriedly raised her hand and stopped Hayley when she saw the latter pulling out her phone. "Ms. Jenkins, calm down. We will find your ring."

Hayley's gaze was so icy that Melody couldn't help but think that Hayley was cold- hearted on top of being a moron.

In fact, Melody would love for the police officers to show up and take Sierra away in front of all the party guests.

However, she knew the truth about this alleged theft, and she couldn't resist feeling diffident at the thought of involving the police.

...

Moreover, the Jones family was the

host of the party. If word got out that

police officers showed up at the scene for investigation, it would drag her family's reputation through the mud.

Melody strained to put on a smile as she continued to persuade Hayley. "Ms. Jenkins, the guests tonight are all prestigious figures in Oceanea City. We would just humiliate

ie

everyone if we involved the police

officers.

"If you ask me, the Jenkins family would loathe to cross this many people over a ring, don't you think?"
