A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo)

Chapter 423 Going up Against the Public Opinion

Sierra noticed the triumph in Melody's eyes and tightened her grip on her purse. She didn't snap out of it until her palms were jabbed uncomfortably. Then, she gave Hayley a sincere look.

"Ms. Jenkins, I have never laid a finger on your ring, and I'm not the type who would take someone else's personal effects. I think there's a misunderstanding here."

Lauren vehemently stopped her from leaving, and Melody brought Hayley over to look for the ring.

The earlier waitress also said that she had mistaken Sierra for someone else when she had just addressed her as "Ms. Shaw" just moments before.

All of these pointed to the fact that it was a setup. If her speculation was correct, the ring was probably in her purse right now.

Sierra intended to leave the party first and have the ring sent to Hayley later. Naturally, Lauren wasn't about to let her walk off that easily.

Just as she was about to take a step, Lauren yanked at her arm and said sarcastically, "Sierra, Ms. Jenkins must've secured some evidence before she looked for you and wanted you to return the ring.

"Why are you in such a hurry to leave? Is it because you're feeling diffident?"

Sierra noticed how Lauren was determined to pin the theft on her, and she retorted sharply, "You seem to be very sure that I have the ring. Why is that? Did you see it before?"

Lauren was immediately stunned, and she hurriedly released Sierra's arm. It looked like she was eager to distance herself from this mess. "That's ridiculous. I've never seen it."

When the people around her gave her a subtle but strange look, she finally realized that she had denied it too anxiously earlier, which made it look like she felt diffident.

Lauren stuttered, "Y-You just seem too suspicious to me. What if the ring is actually with you? We won't be able to find it if we let you go."

Hayley was no fool either. She had long felt that something wasn't right when she noticed how full of holes Lauren's behavior and words were. Then, she shot Lauren a suspicious look.

Melody sensed the changes in Hayley's gaze and cursed Lauren internally for being a moron. In fact, there was absolutely no need to panic.

"Ms. Jenkins, what matters now is that we find your ring," Melody reminded Hayley.

Turning around, she looked at Sierra and added with a troubled expression, "Ms. Shaw, you have to prove that you're innocent. So, why don't you show us everything you have with you?"

Sierra's expression turned grim, and

she didn't move a muscle. If she allowed herself to be frisked at a place like this, people would still sprea@unsavory rumors about her, even if her name was cleared down the road.

More to the point, there was a strong possibility that the whole thing was a setup. So, she couldn't possibly agree with this request.

Melody curled her lips slightly. Sierra was about to be framed for theft, and people would make cutting remarks at her whenever she went out. The notion made her feel thrilled.

Not only was she not angry when she saw that Sierra wasn't willing to cooperate, but she even persuaded Sierra patiently.

"Ms. Shaw, according to the security

footage, you were the only person

who left the party hall since Ms.

Jenkins lost her ring. If you want to

dispel everyone's doubts, you should

really show us everything you have with you.

"If you didn't steal the ring, I will apologize to you as the party host. Is that alright with you?" Melody upped the ante and put Sierra on the spot, making it impossible for her to refuse it.

Sierra was still figuring out a way to get out of this situation, but Lauren immediately snatched her luster purse when she was distracted.

Lauren spoke in a high-pitched, excited voice. "Melody has given her grounds, yet you still refused to be frisked. The way I see it, you must've stolen the ring!"

At the next moment, Lauren flipped the purse over and spilled everything out. There was lipstick, pressed powder, and other personal effects. More importantly, the ring also fell out.noveldrama

Lauren's eyes sparkled. Picking up the ring, she aggressively brought it to Sierra's face, asking, "What's this? A ring? That makes you the thief!"

Some of the young ladies standing behind her could tell that it was a setup, but they didn't give a damn about it. Instead, they went along with her without any hesitation.

"I can't believe that Sierra is a thief!"

"She's Theo's wife, yet she's out here, stealing stuff. How shameful!"
