I walked down the corridor as I held the empty jug of water in my hand, I woke up thirsty and there was no water in my room. I didn’t want to disturb Aurora by calling the servants, so I just took the jug out to refill.

I got in the kitchen and I met Joclyn. From the sizzling sounds. that greeted me, I knew she was preparing a dish. “Joclyn… so you haven’t let go of this habit?” I asked with a smile as I reached her.

She turned back to me with a silly frown. “I was hungry, what else could I do?”

“Hungry, huh? But you already had dinner, didn’t you?” I asked while moving to the sink to refill the jug. After placing it back in the fridge, I grabbed another identical jug of cold water that had been chilling inside..

“Of course I had dinner, but that was for the evening, and this is for the night.”

I chuckled as I turned to see her standing there, defensive with her arms across her chest.

Joclyn wore an overflowing night dress, her hair up in a bun and her eyes narrowed at me. “Do you have the gift of youth and

vitality?”

She raised a brow at me, I dropped the jug on the centre table and walked down to grab a glass… I took two glasses.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

The sound of the cold water pouring into the glass followed as I kept mute, I handed her one of the filled glasses and I took the other as I sat on a chair in the corner.

“I mean, you never seem to age. You’ve looked and acted the same all these years.”

She smiled. “All these years huh?” she asked as she went to check what she ws frying. “How long has it been already?”

I shrugged, “A decade?”

“Two…” she corrected. “Two decades of living this life, Dane.”

I sighed as I took a deep breath. I recalled when Joclyn was first brought to the pack house. She was in her twenties then and I was just a teenage boy. We started off as friends before our duties and busy lives tore us apart. We were almost as close as siblings.

“Back then when I knew you would be in the kitchen every night and I would come just to taste what you were cooking.”

Joclyn chuckled. “Right… I remember those days.” She turned off the cooker and took out a dish as she dished out the

seasoned lamb and rice she was preparing.

She pulled a chair next to me and dropped the plate of food on the table, “How about we cat like we used to eat together in those days?.”

“The pleasure is mine,” I licked my lips and took the spoon, I took a spoon full and as I chewed. I fell back on my chair as I groaned.

“Still perfect in this art… this is so good.” I took a piece of meat and ate it.

“I am glad you enjoy it… How are you feeling now?”

I looked up at her and saw her looking at my arm, where I was shot and I realized she was talking of the poison.

“I’m good… Aurora takes good care of me.”

“Of course she does.” Joclyn smirked and continued eating.

I noticed some movement and I turned to see Trajan walk into the kitchen.

“Hi,” Joclyn said as she turned to him.

Trajan walked up to us, he wore his patrol uniform, “I was passing by and I heard voices so I came to see who it was.”

I nodded, “Well it happens that this damsel prepared a delicacy I couldn’t resist.”

Trajan swallowed as he watched us eating from one plate. I noticed he would look at Joclyn and then the food and her again.

“Are you hungry?”

“Yes,” he rushed, but once Joclyn turned to him with a raised brow, he shook his head. “No… I am not, I will get going.”

I furrowed my brows as he turned to leave. Is he scared of her? Joclyn looked totally harmless though.

“Wait Trajan, stay…” Joclyn said.

Trajan turned and I got up, “Come sit here, I was about to leave anyways.”

“Are you full?” Joclyn asked out of care.

I nodded my head as I carried the cold jug of water I came for.

Trajan walked slowly and sat with Joclyn, and they started to eat together.

I noticed them stealing glances at each other, I think they haven’t been together often so they are still shy of each other’s presence.

I shrugged and left.

“As I reached the corridor, I held a faint sound. “Wa…”

I halted, and I held it again, “I need wa… water.

I walked towards the direction and I realized it was coming from the dungeon, that was Kaida.

I turned to leave immediately.

“Water… I… would die of thirst… Water.”

I gritted my teeth as I looked around for any maid or servant. But there was none around. I sighed as I opened the gates and entered the dungeon.

“Why are you disturbing our peace?” I asked as I got inside, I saw her crouched in a corner.

She lifted her head, got up and walked up to me slowly, “I need water.” noveldrama

She reached the bars and she held it as I stepped away from the bars.

“Here,” I said and handed her the jug, she rushed it out of my hand and gulped it down.

I ran my eyes through her body as she drank the water, she looked like the shadow of herself. Her long hair disheveled and her dress torn, so torn at the top I could almost see her nipple. I shifted my eyes.

I heard the water on the jug spilled and I turned to see it pour on her, pushing her torn dress further down and when it was

about to show one of her nips, it clung to her skin. Her chest heaved as she sighed.

She ran her hand over the water spillage as she handed back the jug to me. “Thanks…. But I feel so cold in this wet dress, can I get another?”

I parted my lips to speak but she locked eyes with me and tilted her head down as she took off her torn dress.

Damn it. I groaned as I followed her falling dress with my eyes, she stretched her hands out of her cell and touched my chest, “I’m so cold Dane… can you help me stay warm… for just tonight?”

She had nothing underneath. I closed my eyes. I can’t believe this girl is trying so hard to seduce me.

I gritted my teeth as anger coursed through my veins. How dare she?

I grabbed her arm that she’d placed on my chest as I growled in a low tone, “Get your filthy hands off me, slut.”

“Dane?”

I turned to see Aurora, standing a few feet away, her glittering with tears on them.

“Aurora?” I tried to tug off Kaida’s arm from my shirt, but she held on and as I pulled away, it tore.

Aurora shook her head and ran away, I ran after her. “Aurora!!”

“I love you, Dane,” Kaida yelled after me.

“Fuck you,” I growled at her.
