Ruby looked up and met Donovan's probing gaze. She tilted her head to avoid his eyes, "No, I slept well."

Donovan walked up to her, lifted her chin, and scrutinized her face, "Have you been crying?"

Ruby raised her chin slightly, trying to free herself from Donovan's grip, but he didn't let her go, holding her jaw firmly.

Ruby's vulnerability and grievance magnified in that instant. She glared at him angrily, "Isn't it your greatest wish to see me cry? Well, you must be thrilled now that I'm in tears, right?"

Donovan frowned, "Why are you angry at me?"

"How could I be angry at you?" Ruby choked, "We both know that I've wronged you these past few years. You can do whatever you want. How could I possibly lose my temper with you?"

As she spoke, her tears fell uncontrollably. She wiped them away roughly, not wanting him to see her in such a pathetic state.

Donovan's lips pressed into a thin line. He pinched her jaw, turning her face back to him. Seeing her cry so pitifully, he suddenly lowered his head and licked the tears hanging on her eyelashes.

The tears were salty and somewhat bitter.

Ruby was almost stunned. She stared blankly at Donovan, not expecting him to do that.

Donovan was also shocked by his own actions. He cleared his throat, released her, and walked towards the sofa, "I heard your parents caused a scene at your house this morning?"

Ruby wasn't surprised that Donovan knew. Ever since he reappeared in her life, he had been very mysterious.

She didn't know what he was doing, where his money came from, and those people coming and going respectfully called him boss and obeyed his every command.

He seemed to know everything, as if he had everything under control.

"Yes.". Rubv said. "They want me to go back."

Donovan glanced at her sideways, "After all, they are your biological parents. Why don't you want to go back and be the young lady of the Adams family again?"

Ruby's red lips pressed tightly together. After a while, she said, "Three years ago, I severed ties with them. Now they want me back only because I still have some value to them."

Ruby felt a surge of discomfort, like a burning sensation in her chest. She said, "I'm not confused at all. I'll go clean up."

She didn't want to talk to Donovan. He used to be so gentle, but now he was so cold. She didn't want to look pitiful.

Donovan watched her back disappear from sight. He touched his chin and picked up his phone to make a call.

The call was quickly answered, and Donovan's expression turned cold, "Charles Adams has been causing too much trouble. Teach him a lesson."

Donovan had always held a grudge against the Adams family for their ruthless actions against Ruby. How could he let them go?

After hanging up the phone, his expression was deep.

It seemed he had to hurry and make the Adams Group disappear from this world. As long as the Adams couple had no support, they could no longer interfere in Ruby's life. Charles and Nancy returned home. Nova glanced behind them but didn't see Ruby. He was immediately disappointed, "Dad, Mom, why didn't Ruby come back with you?" Phoebe withdrew her hand, quickly got out of the car, and stood outside. She bent slightly to look into the car and said to Theodore, "See you tonight."

After speaking, she closed the car door and walked briskly into the building. She walked so fast that she stumbled a bit.

Theodore watched her slightly awkward back and smiled. He said to Guadalupe, "Let's go."

Phoebe walked into the company, her heart still pounding uncontrollably. She called Lori into her office and instructed her to find out about the Walker Family. Forewarned was forearmed.

In the afternoon, Lori reported everything about the Walker Family to her. The five pages were filled with the misdeeds of the Walker Family's eldest son. Phoebe was shocked after reading it.

The Adams couple wanted to marry Ruby off to such a beast for money. If they succeeded, Ruby would live in hell for the rest of her life.

Phoebe thought for a moment, took a picture of the document, and sent it to Donovan, along with a voice message.

"Donovan, this Edmund Walker is a bastard. The Adams couple wants to marry Ruby to him. You must find a way to stop it."

Donovan didn't reply to her message.

Ruby spent the whole morning channeling her grief into cleaning, making every corner spotless. Then she went to prepare lunch. After finishing, she was about to call Donovan to eat when her phone suddenly rang.

She took out her phone and saw it was a call from her former neighbor. They hadn't

been in touch since she moved away.

Now that Cliff Hope was calling, could something have happened?

Ruby didn't dare delay and quickly answered.

Cliff's voice came through the phone, "Ruby, it's Cliff. My grandson suddenly disappeared. I've looked everywhere and can't find him. Could something have happened to him?"

Ruby was shocked. Peter was practically raised under her watch. She was worried something might have happened to him and quickly asked, "Cliff, don't worry. How could he suddenly disappear? Did he go somewhere to play?"

Cliff was crying, "I've looked everywhere he might go, but he's nowhere to be found. Ruby, he kept saying he missed Ethan and wanted to visit you. Could he have gone to find you?"
