His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 672

"Dillon, he's my best friend, the best I've ever had in my life."noveldrama

Dillon got it—the bond between the two of them was something special. But Casper couldn't keep letting people use Rory's memory as an excuse to hurt his family.

"Mr. Casper, Rory wouldn't hold it against you. You've given Fiona enough chances. She's the one choosing this destructive path."

Casper wasn't cold-hearted; no one really understood the depth of his connection with Rory. It was going to take him a while to wrap his head around everything. He wished so badly that Dylan was Rory's child-it would've given him a chance to make things right. But, unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

The car finally pulled up to the old mansion. Casper's steps were heavy as he made his way inside. Eliza was still up, waiting for him in the living room. She knew Casper too well and had a pretty good idea of what he was dealing with that night. She couldn't help but feel anxious to hear what had happened.

"You're back?" she said, getting up to meet him.

Casper forced a small smile. "Why are you still awake?"

"Waiting for you."

He felt a twinge of guilt. "I'm sorry, I got caught up with some stuff and lost track of time. Didn't mean to worry you."

"Casper." She could sense his mood and gently took his hand. "What's bothering you?"

"Nothing," he said, pulling her into an embrace and resting his chin on her shoulder. "Elle, I'm alright."

"But I can tell you're upset. Is it about Fiona?" Her voice was soft, hoping he wouldn't shut her out. "Is it, Casper?"

"Elle, it's not Fiona that's bothering me. It's... Rory." He sighed, his hand softly tracing her cheek.

Rory? She started to piece things together.

"Do you feel like dealing with Fiona means you're letting Rory down?"

He couldn't deny it, but dealing with Fiona was something he had to do. "I broke a promise, yes, but I don't regret it, Elle. There's nothing more important than our family being safe and sound."

Eliza nodded. While she couldn't fully grasp the bond between Casper and Rory, she imagined she'd feel just as torn if it were about her and Chelsea.

"Casper, let's go visit Rory's grave sometime. I don't think he'd hold anything against you."

"Alright."

He hugged her tightly. The happiness she gave him was beyond compare. He was sure Rory would get it.

Life slipped back into its usual rhythm. But no one saw Tristan's tantrum coming. At first, folks

thought he was there because onet

Zach, but that wasn't it. He'd caught wind of the Welton International shares being reallocated and came to demand his kid's share.

Audrey couldn't believe his boldness, asking for shares of Welton International for

his illegitimate child. She was this close to throwing her rosary beads at him.

"Dad always said illegitimate kids couldn't be part of the family shrine or the division of the Welton assets. There's no way they're getting any shares of Welton International.4f you've got any decency, you'd leave right now."

Tristan wasn't budging. His eyes locked onto Casper. "The Welton family had me first, so if anyone's inheriting, it should be me before you, his son. Just because you're chairman now doesn't mean you can do whatever you want."

"Share distribution is decided by board meetings and votes. If you want to make a scene, do it at the company, not here." Casper was over these arguments. He was in charge now and didn't feel the need to justify his decisions.

Tristan, it seemed, had a thick skull. Zach's fate should've been a big enough wake-up call.
