His Reluctant Luna

Chapter 86 - Getting to know

Alice

"If my questions are uncomfortable, you can choose not to answer," I said, trying to be pleasant.

Zaiden smiled back at me, looking curious.

"I lost my dad about 15 years ago in the were war. Many people were involved in

it. Most of them are dead now. But the war happened because of me. I never stopped blaming myself for it." I paused.

"I guess I am rambling, what I mean is, you don't feel a shred of resentment towards Lucian for executing your parents?" I said quickly in one breath.

"Some things can't be helped, they went against the pack, got punished. I was lucky that I was spared. Not all Alphas are so benevolent to keep a traitor's son alive." he replied, with a loose roll of his shoulders. "What do you expect me to do?"noveldrama

Take revenge, I thought but thought better of voicing it aloud. I couldn't even tell if Zaiden was being serious. Despite my kindness towards him, I was not going to ignore my sixth sense as I did for Savannah. Though my sixth sense was saying the opposite. It was asking me to believe him.

"I hope you won't do anything rash," I said.

"Do you miss your dad?" He suddenly asked.

I nodded.

"What do you miss about him?"

"Just him being with me, him comforting me when I used to be sad. Playing

football, me Rick and I. Just doing dad things." I replied.

"So, you miss him because you have good memories of him?"

"Yes, I do... I have some excellent memories of him and my mother." I was tearing up now.

"Well, I don't have any good memories of my parents, so I don't miss them." He said flatly. "They were too busy, in their power struggles. Running after the Obsidian prophecy......"

"Sorry what? What prophesy?" I interrupted.

"The obsidian prophecy, I had heard them discussing that a thousand times! It is about an Alpha mating with a witch's daughter. Their baby would be mighty and bring peace to the werewolf world. Something like that."

I stared at him for a few moments. This was unexpected and made absolutely no sense. This had to be a coincidence.

"Okay, can you tell me more about this prophecy? And why were your parents obsessed with it?"

"The obsidian prophecy, you have never heard of it? Many Alphas were obsessed with in back in those days. Some wanted to mate with that girl, others wanted to use her as a source for blood magic. My parents were part of that group. So, I heard things."

My head was reeling now.

"Do you remember who all were part of that group?"

"Most of them are dead presently, but Lucian's father was one of them. He was convinced by my dad." He said wryly.

I had heard enough. I stood up, I needed time to process all this.

"Thank you, Zaiden, you should go back to your training now," I said quickly.

He bowed and left. I was left pondering about what he told me. Wolves have their myths and prophecies, I never paid much attention to them. But, Zaiden's words were rather intriguing.

"Madam Luna," Rain's voice interrupted my train of thoughts.

"Yes?" I raised an eyebrow as she arrived in the room.

"The girl, in the hospital. She is awake, but she is not talking to anyone. The doctors had to move out all the male guards around her. She gets hysterical." "She's the one they found in the shipyard, right? Is she fit enough to talk?" "Yeah, she has healed pretty quickly, but it would take a long time for her to get over her trauma." Rain said sympathetically.

"I will visit her soon, don't worry." Assuring Rain, I walked towards the hospital.

'Hey,' I called Lucian through our mind link.

'Hey, dear,' he replied. Though he seemed distracted.

'I am going to visit that girl. I am not sure if I would be able to make her talk, but I

will keep the link open so that you can listen.'

'Take Peter and Rory with you.'

'She gets agitated by the guards.'

'That's why you must take guards with you. She had been turned through genetic manipulation. She might be unstable and dangerous.'

'Oh come on! She is a mere girl. I can take care of myself. Don't worry. 'I protested.

'Alice! Just do as I say.' He sounded impatient.

'Alright, I will take the guards.' I gave in.

'She's been ravaged badly. I still need to know her connection with the rogues. She smelled distinctly of them when she was first brought in. But she has refused to talk. Not even her name. I can understand that she had been traumatized, but we can't help her if she would not tell us anything.'

'I will try.'

I felt bad for the girl. I had heard of the extensive abuse the girl had suffered physically. Although the physical wounds would eventually heal and fade away, the mental and emotional wounds would take longer to heal and probably scar more deeply than the physical ones.

**************

The door to the girl's room was open, and I could see her sitting up in the hospital bed with pillows propped up behind her. She was staring blankly outside the glass windows. She was very thin, almost waif-like. Her blonde hair was tied in a messy bun.

I couldn't tell what she looked like since her head was turned away from the door. the hospital bed almost dwarfed her slight frame. Her arms still showed some faint bruises, but overall, she looked good for someone who'd been found battered as hell and half dead. I knocked at the open door. She was probably already aware of my presence. The girl slowly turned and trained guarded bright blue eyes towards me.

She was lovely! Despite all the battering and bruises, she was beautiful. Blue eyes looked at me from a pale face. She seemed to be still a teenager. I felt a lump in my throat. Her face looked so innocent and young, but her eyes were full of torment and pain. The girl blinked and immediately turned away.

"Hello there," I took a couple of steps into the room.

"I'm Alice, I am the Luna of this pack," I smiled gently.

The girl looked at me, then at the two men behind me. The flare of panic in her

eyes was instant. The sour smell of fear lingered in the room.

"Would you like them to leave? I just want to talk with you for a little. Would that

be fine?" I gave a reassuring smile and pointed at Peter and Rory.

The girl nodded her head and trained her eyes on the men.

'Go. Leave me with her. I'll be fine.' I urged the guards.

'As you wish, madam Luna. We'll be right outside the door.' Peter answered. Nodding their heads at

girl, they walked out and stationed themselves right

outside.

She seemed to calm a bit, her lips curved in a slight smile. But apart from that, she was quiet.

"You won't be hurt here. You are safe now. We want to know, how we can help you."? I did not attempt to step any closer because I sensed her fear.

"Do you mind if I come closer? I'd love to get to know you more." I took a tentative step.

She blinked, then gave a slight nod. So, I slowly walked forward and sat on the chair next to the bed.

"You already know my name, would it be too much to ask for yours?" The girl shook her head as if hiding from my gaze.

"Olivia..." She said quietly, "my name is Olivia."

"That's a lovely name, so are you comfortable here?" I kept my tone as mild and soothing as I could.

I had no experience in dealing with traumatized people. But I knew was that their experiences would leave them broken and fearful for some time.

I had read somewhere that it helped some victims to share their painful experiences. It would be painful for sure, but ultimately helpful in healing her. Hoping that presenting myself as an ally and friend would encourage the young woman to open up.

"You are also like them?" The girl finally asked. Her voice seemed calmer now.

"Like them? Do you mean shape-shifter? Yes, I am also a shifter. We are all shapeshifting wolves."

"I know, I was kidnapped by them." She said quietly.

"I am sorry for what happened to you. Would you like to discuss it?"

The fear was back and tears flowed from her eyes.

"Why are you being nice to me? Why not just kill me or experiment on me?"

I had no idea how to respond to that.

"We don't do all that here. If you can tell me what happened to you. We will be

able to catch them, punished them."

She looked at me with a slight distrust.

"Why?"

"Because they are bad people, doing terrible things to innocent humans like you.

You can stop it if you can help us in finding them. I won't force you to talk. We can

talk again later when you are ready. Is that fine?" I said calmly.

She didn't reply but looked thoughtful. I stood up, ready to leave.

"No stop! Please don't go," she said, almost panicked.

"Ok, I will stay."

"I will tell you whatever I know...." Olivia said.
