Chapter 471
After driving around half the city in the middle of the night to get what she wanted, by the time he came back with it, she had changed her mind. The only exception was this special rice noodle roll from Liu's that she had stumbled upon once and instantly loved. It always seemed to hit the spot. Having stood her up last night, he was eager to make it up to her. If he could, he would've dashed out to get it himself right then and there. Alex got the task.
Everett, after finishing his coffee, ambled over to check on Josh, who was snoozing peacefully by the bedside, looking like he didn't have a care in the world. Everett felt himself relax, leaning back on the couch to catch a quick nap. He wasn't sure how long he'd drifted off when a sharp knock at the door jolted him awake. Frowning, he said, "Come in."
In walked Alex, her normally stoic face showing rare signs of distress.
Everett felt a twinge of unease.
Sure enough, her next words were frantic, "Mr. Everett, I went to drop off breakfast, and Moon Bay is completely... deserted!"
He shot to his feet, a frigid aura enveloping him.
"What do you mean deserted?" he demanded, almost through gritted teeth.
Alex shivered, mustering up the courage to explain, "When I got to the villa, it was empty. I assumed Madame and Ava were still asleep, so I went to the bedroom to find her, but... her luggage was gone, and Ava too..."
She couldn't believe it. After the last incident, Madame had the nerve to escape again! And this time, even more boldly! If it weren't so serious, she'd have applauded her courage.
In a flash, scattered memories pieced together in Everett's mind, and it all clicked.
No wonder his grandfather's health had taken a turn, no wonder Callum hadn't done the surgery, no wonder his grandfather hadn't woken up yet!
If he hadn't tried to win Selena over by sending breakfast, he wouldn't have found out she'd bolted. By the time he got home, she would've been long gone!
Fantastic. Just fantastic.
Everett marched over to the nightstand, snatched his car keys, and turned to leave.
A hand suddenly clamped onto his arm.
He looked over to see Josh, who was supposed to be out cold, now wide awake.
Everett's lips curled into a frosty smile.
Josh felt a pang of guilt under his gaze, but this time, he wasn't just sticking for Selena, he

too.
If it wasn't for this mess, would Mateo have been born and separated from his mom all this time?
It was only natural for Selena to want to be with her son, to care for him!
With this resolve, he straightened up, "Everett, let Selena go!"novelbin
He knew about the divorce papers they'd signed. It was a shame, but
he didn't want to push Selena

anymore; he respected her decision.
"You agreed to the divorce, didn't you? A couple of weeks sooner or later won't change anything!"
Josh had handed over his entire fortune to Selena as leverage, and still, he bore no grudge.
But right now, there was a deep-seated resentment and sorrow in his eyes.
"Grandfather, are you going to turn on me too?"
His dad, mom, wife, brother, and now even his closest grandfather were all plotting against him?
Everett gave a slow smile, but it didn't reach his eyes, which were as cold as ice.
Josh couldn't meet his gaze and looked away.
