Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 674

Ava shook her head and quickly reassured her, "Don't worry, ma'am. Since she was born a bit early, the nurse just took her for some check-ups. She'll be back soon."

Selena's heart, which had been tied up in knots, slowly began to relax.

"Is it a little sister?"

"Yep, a girl! Eight pounds, a real chubby one. No wonder she gave her mom such a tough time."

Ava sounded like she was griping, but the joy and affection in her voice were unmistakable.

Just then, the nurse wheeled the baby back in.

Ava smoothly picked up the snugly wrapped bundle from the bassinet and placed her next to Selena.

Selena gazed down at the tiny, soft little baby.

She was asleep, sucking her little thumb, her face still all scrunched up, but her skin was fair and delicate.

Selena missed seeing Mateo right after he was born, so having this little girl felt like a blessing, filling that void.

In that moment, all the pain from the last nine months and the labor just seemed to melt away.

The fact that her daughter was born healthy and safe was her greatest blessing. Selena couldn't help but plant a gentle kiss on her daughter's cheek.

Mateo, wide-eyed with curiosity about his new sister, watched this tiny being.

She looked a bit funny, not exactly like the sister he had imagined.

But he adored her all the same.

He reached out a finger and gently poked his sister's cheek.

So soft.

Softer than the marshmallows he loved.

He giggled, his eyes turning into little crescents as he smiled.

"Sister, I'm your brother, sister, sister..."

Selena watched her son's goofy grin and couldn't help but chuckle along.

Now, with both a son and a daughter, life felt just right.

Then, she remembered and softly asked, "Where's Everett? Did he show up?"noveldrama

Ava's temper flared. "Don't even

mention that no-good jerk. You went through all that to bring his child into the world and he couldn't even be bothered to show up! You struggled through labor for a whole day and night, and he didn't even come to see you!"

Ava was furious with Everett's neglect, always choosing others over Selena time after time. But during the tough delivery, when a strong presence was needed, he was nowhere to be found.

She had stayed by Selena's side in the delivery room, terrified

something would go wrong as Selena endured immense pain and nearly fainted several times. In her panic, Ava had stepped out to call Alex, urging him to make Everett come!

But no matter how long they waited, he never showed.

Thankfully, Selena was strong and blessed, and mother and daughter came through safely in the end.

What good was a husband like that? When it mattered most, he was never there.

Twice now!

Twice he had let them down!

Selena felt a moment of confusion.

So, the fleeting image of Everett she thought she saw during labor was just her imagination.

She lowered her eyes, a wry smile on her lips.

After a moment, she spoke hoarsely, "I didn't have the baby for him. I had her for myself. We've divorced, and all ties are severed."

Ava quickly agreed, "Yes, yes, the child is yours, and what does that jerk have to do with it? Who cares if he shows up or not!"

Not wanting to dwell on the topic, she shifted the conversation, "Our little Haley is

so beautiful; she'll surely grow up to be a stunning young lady, just like her mom!"

Later that evening, Joy arrived.

She looked exhausted, clearly having

not slept. Normally mindful of her

appearance, she now wore no makeup, and her clothes were wrinkled as she leaned by the bed, tears streaming down her face.
