Chapter 472 Do you trust your wife that much?
Alaric said, "Ambrose is a particularly cunning person. First, Denny disappeared, and then Bill hasn't come out for a long time. I guess Ambrose already thought of this and might be preparing to escape now."
"Since he has the intention to run, let's push him a bit more. If Denny really came to Arizona, he would definitely sneak to find Ambrose. If Ambrose knows the situation has been exposed, he might act recklessly. Stuart, that sly person, must be feeling very insecure right now. Once Ambrose makes a move, Stuart will seek help from his backers."
Hearing Alaric's suggestion, Neil clapped his hands in approval, "That's an excellent idea! Since Ambrose is now like a fish in a barrel, we should certainly find a way to maximize his utility before his end."
Alaric nodded. "Yes."
AS Cormac thought of Orion's tragic death and how Ambrose had been at large for so long, he was filled with hatred.
Cormac said angrily, "I really wish Ambrose could die right now. Such a villain shouldn't be allowed to live in this world!"
"Soon," Neil said.
Rowena was already asleep, and the kids had gone to bed too. Stellan, who had returned to the bedroom, couldn't fall asleep. It was already past eleven at night, and Alaric still hadn't finished drinking.
Stellan couldn't stay in bed any longer, so she quietly walked out and stood on the second floor, secretly looking downstairs.
Neil was still very sober, but Cormac seemed a bit tipsy.
"I can't do it anymore," Cormac admitted, "Officer Neil, you have a great tolerance for alcohol. I give up; I can't drink anymore."
Cormac's mind was still a bit clear, but he felt very dizzy. If he drank any more, he feared he would pass out. Then he wisely went back to his room to rest.
Seeing Cormac leave, Stellan thought Alaric would come up to rest soon too, but he didn't.
After Cormac left, Alaric looked at Neil and asked, "Are you okay, Neil?"
Neil said, "No problem, this amount of alcohol is just for fun."
Alaric smiled admiringly and said, "You really have a great tolerance for alcohol."
Neil said proudly, "I don't dare say much about other things, but when it comes to drinking, I haven't met my match."
"I can see that." Seeing Neil still so clear-headed after drinking so much, Alaric was impressed and couldn't help but ask, "Neil, after Mia left home, my wife reported it to you. Has there been any news after all these days?"
Alaric had been worried about this. If Mia couldn't be found, Stellan would never be at ease.
Neil said, "After Stellan reported to the police, I immediately conducted a thorough investigation of the city's transportation system. I tracked down the taxi she took that night. The driver mentioned it was quite eerie driving to the cemetery at that hour, so he dropped her off in the outskirts near the cemetery. Then the driver left, and since there were no surveillance cameras in that area, we lost all trace of her from then on." Alaric roughly understood Mia's thoughts at that time. Mia had worked for the Storm family when she was young, so her feelings for the Storm family were understandable. She must have wanted to pay her respects to Brennan one last time before leaving Arizona. If she wasn't really heartbroken, she wouldn't have gone to such a place in the middle of the night.
Thinking about it, Alaric felt guilty. He didn't dare let Stellan know. If she knew Mia went to pay her respects to Brennan first after leaving, she would feel even worse.
Alaric pleaded, "Please, Neil, you must find Mia."
Neil promised, "Don't worry. I'll do my best."
Stellan stood on the second floor, watching them engage in conversation, though she couldn't discern what they were discussing. Glancing at the time, she realized it was already past midnight. It looked like they planned to talk all night?
Stellan couldn't stay awake any longer, so she went back to the bedroom and closed the door. She couldn't sleep even lying in bed.
She couldn't help but wonder what they were talking about. Could it be about Marigold's case?
Alaric really didn't want to face Neil now, let alone discuss Marigold's case, but if he didn't bring it up, Neil would.
Neil asked, "Don't you want to ask how Marigold's case is progressing?"
Neil's sudden question made Alaric tense up, but he calmly said, "Is there a need to ask?"
Neil was stunned.
Alaric said, "If there was any progress, you would have come to arrest Stellen. But that day will never come."
Neil asked, "Do you trust Stellan that much?"
"Of course!" Alaric said firmly, "Hestia either made a mistake or was instructed to frame my wife. In any case, my wife wouldn't lie."
Neil said seriously, "I'm not interested in knowing whether Stellan or Marigold is more important to you. I'm just a stickler for the truth. I can't accept not knowing the truth. Once we deal with Ambrose, I'll start investigating that properly."
Alaric said, "Good, what I admire most about you is your persistence. We all want to see the truth."
"Neil said, Yeah."
Stellan looked at the time again; it was already past one in the morning. It seemed they were really going to talk all night, so she gradually fell asleep.
When she woke up the next day, she felt something restraining her. She opened her eyes to find Alaric holding her. She looked at the time; it was past seven in the morning.
Seeing Alaric still sleeping soundly, Stellan didn't want to disturb him and tried to gently slip away, but as soon as she moved, she woke Alaric.noveldrama
His arm tightened instantly, and he mumbled, "Don't go, stay with me a little longer."
"How late did you talk last night?" Stellan asked.
Alaric said, "Past two..."
Stellan asked, "What about Officer Neil?"
"He left," Alaric mumbled, "I offered him to stay, but he refused, so I had the driver take him home."
Stellan said, "But Cormac is still here. I can't stay in bed; I have to..."
"Cormac isn't an outsider; don't worry about him." Alaric still held her tightly. "The kids have the driver to take them; don't worry. Stay with me."
Stellan said, "If you want to sleep, then sleep peacefully by yourself. I..."
Before Stellan could finish, Alaric sealed her lips with his, making it impossible for her to move.
Then Stellan reluctantly gaveup struggling. Many times, she felt Alaric was just like a child.
"Don't go, stay with me a little longer." Alaric released her lips after a long kiss but still held her tightly.
