Chapter 1045

Theda’s brow furrowed, but Debra’s smile widened. “So, the medicine’s fine, right?”

“The medicine’s fine, but Andrew won’t take it.”

“I figured he wouldn’t.”

“Then why did you come? Just to figure that out?

“Yes. Now I know how to handle the matter.”

Debra continued her way out of the café, but Theda called out again, “Are you going to let me take over?”

Debra paused and turned back. “If I’m not mistaken, you’re trying to pull a double–cross. You plan to buy the 45% shares I hold, right? If I sold them to you, you’d become the largest shareholder. When the time arrives, Melody will transfer her shares to you. Together with the other shareholders, you’d oust me and take full control of the company. It would be too late for Melody to stop you.”

Debra continued, “You’ve got it all figured out, but here’s the question. If I’m willing to sell the shares, do you dare buy them?”

Theda raised a brow. “Why wouldn’t I?”

Debra replied, “Sure, the Buchan family has grown under your leadership, and your wealth has doubled. However, I don’t think you control much funding personally. The 45% shares I hold have a market value you’re aware of. Are you sure you’d risk everything to buy them?”

Theda chuckled, “That’s my concern, isn’t it? Even if it costs me everything, I want the company. I’ve heard you once borrowed eight billion to acquire the land that the McKinney Group now holds. If you had the guts, why wouldn’t I?”

Debra shrugged. “Makes no difference to me. If you’re willing to bankrupt yourself for it, I’m. happy to sell it. But a piece of kind advice: if you take over the Nichols Group, your assets back home will probably end up in your stepmother’s hands. Don’t let greed blind you.”

With that, she left.

Theda sat back down to sip her coffee.

Standing behind the counter, a man spoke up. “I told you, she’s not an easy opponent.”

He methodically wiped the rim of a coffee cup. His face betrayed no emotion.

“Robert, I think you’d make a great barista. Why don’t I buy this café and let you work here full -time?”

Robert Fitchett placed a freshly made caramel latte on the table. “What’s next?”

“We play,” Theda said. “I didn’t come all this way to leave empty–handed. I’ve had my eye on novelbin
