Chapter 440
Marian's voice was icy as she said, "I'm from the Dawson family, and I'm here to take him back home."
Greta's eyes lit up, quickly calculating how Cameron's value would skyrocket once he returned to the Dawson fold. She was over the moon. Her demeanor shifted to one of warmth, "Please, have a seat. I'll call him right away and get him home as soon as possible." With an air of aloofness, Marian stepped inside. As Greta dialed Cameron, Marian took a moment to survey the humble home, tears welling up in her eyes. "My dear Cameron," she sighed, "born with every advantage, yet here he is, living in such a modest place because
of a poor choice in a partner."
Greta was taken aback. How could this servant from the Dawson family dare to insult her, the lady of the house?
Marian's disdain was clear, and Greta wasn't about to try to win her over. She sat silently to the side, tension hanging in the air as they awaited Cameron's return.
When Cameron finally stumbled in, smelling of alcohol, his eyes grew misty upon seeing Marian.
"Marian," he whispered.
Her frail fists lightly tapped his arm, feigning reproach, "Why haven't you come to see me? Do you want me to pass with an unsettled heart?"novelbin
Cameron's voice was thick with emotion, "I wanted to, but I couldn't go back there."
Marian seized the moment, "I've come today to take you back."
Cameron was firm, "I'm not going back."
Marian pressed on, "Cameron, your father's sick. Your stepmother's been moving the family's assets. Dawson International is falling apart and needs you to step in and fix
things."

A wry smile crossed Cameron's face, "A man who loses his wife loses his fortune. I'm facing my consequences, just as he is. It's the Dawson family's karma." Greta felt a shiver. Cameron, though silent, was clearly burdened with guilt over Nathalie, and he regretted his past actions.
Marian continued, "If Dawson
International crumbles, countless
employees will lose their jobs. You're not just saving a company by going back you're saving the livelihoods of innocent people."
Cameron remained unmoved.
Marian played her last card, "Your grandfather is managing things now, but he's ninety and frail, stuck in the hospital. If you take charge, he can finally rest easy." Cameron paused, the mention of his grandfather, Will was perhaps the one person who loved him unconditionally. His name softened his resolve.
Marian delivered a final blow, "Don't you want justice for your mother? Your stepmother and brother are imprisoned by your father. Now's your chance to settle scores."
Cameron thought of the pain his
stepmother caused, the scattering of his mother's ashes. The opportunity for retribution swayed him. He agreed. "Marian, let me pack my things, and I'll come with you."
Just as he finished speaking, Greta, who had been eavesdropping, rushed out. Clinging to Cameron, she pleaded, "If you're leaving, take me with you."
