Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 635

Nina hesitated for a moment before reaching out to take the USB drive, nodding obediently. "Alright."

Cameron gave her a gentle pat on the head. "You should head back now. If

Nathan, that sly fox, finds out you're not home, he'll get suspicious."

Clutching the USB drive tightly, Nina took off running back home.

Cameron vanished in front of the ornate door.

Unbeknownst to Nina, Nathalie was watching and quietly followed her.

As soon as Nina burst into the foyer, she bumped into a solid chest.

Looking up, she saw Nathan and quickly stepped back, startled.

"Uncle... Dad?" she stammered.

Nathan looked at her warmly. "Out meeting him so late?"

Nina swallowed hard, too nervous to speak.

Meanwhile, Nathalie, watching from outside, was frozen with shock.

How did Nathan know Nina went to see Cameron?

"I didn't," Nina lied.

Nathan calmly replied, "There's a security camera by the side door. It triggers the alarm if anyone approaches."

Nina was taken aback, her expression stunned. "Since you knew I met him, why aren't you punishing me?"

Nathan chuckled softly. "You're your mother's darling. If I punished you, it would break her heart. I could never do that."

Summoning her courage, Nina asked, "Then you must know why my dad came to see me today, right?"

Nathan replied casually, "Of course."

Nina's eyes widened. "My dad and I are both trying to harm you, and you still won't punish me?"

Nathan sighed, a hint ofnoveldrama

exasperation in his voice. "How can I make you understand? Loving your mother and making her happy is my life's mission. Hurting you would make her unhappy, and that's something I won't do."

Nina visibly relaxed.

At this moment, Nathalie walked in. Upon seeing her, Nathan immediately approached and draped the coat he was carrying over her shoulders, gently chiding, "It's chilly at night. Even if you go out, you should wear something warmer. What if you catch a cold?"

Nathalie gazed at Nathan, puzzled why it seemed the whole world was against him, yet he could still let these things go with such ease.

Her heart ached for him.

"Nathan, just thinking about returning to the Stewart family tomorrow kept me awake. I decided to take a walk. You should go rest; I'll take Nina to her room and be right back."

Nathan nodded. "Alright."

He turned and left, with an air of nonchalance.

Once Nathan was gone, Nathalie's expression turned stern. She glared at Nina with a piercing gaze. "You've let me down."

Tears welled up in Nina's eyes as she reached out to Nathalie. "Mom, please don't

be mad at me. Dad and I are just scared of Gavin deceiving you..."

"Ha, you call Cameron 'Dad' so easily, don't you? Nathan saved you when you were in danger, provided you with a stable life, and yet you and your unscrupulous father plan to betray him? How did I not realize sooner that you're so ungrateful? Nina, you don't resemble my daughter; you seem more like Cameron's. Are you as ungrateful as he is?"

Tears streamed down Nina's face. "Mom, please don't say that about me. I just love you too much. I don't want Gavin to fool you. Please, don't be angry with

me."

Nathalie looked at her daughter's young, innocent face and her heart softened. She gently pulled her into an embrace.

She couldn't shake the feeling that Nina had turned out this way due to her lack of guidance. She resolved to spend more time with her daughter, teaching her and being there for her.
