Chapter 1292 He Succeeded, I Feel Terrible
Selena lay in bed with Raymond's arm around her, but she couldn't sleep. Her head was pounding.
"Did Victor ever tell you why my head hurts so much?" she asked.
"You had a head injury. There are still some blood clots in your brain, which is why you feel dizzy sometimes. You need to rest more," Raymond explained.
Selena relaxed in his arms, though her forehead was already damp with sweat from the
pain.
Raymond gently patted her back and picked up a book of poetry from the nightstand. "I'll read to you."
His voice was soothing, especially when he read poetry.
Selena hadn't felt sleepy at first, but listening to his voice made her drowsy. She felt both sleepy and happy.
As she drifted off, she heard K's voice again, just like the conversation she had overheard outside the study that day. The voice was so close, it felt like it was right next to her ear.
Panic surged through her. The last time she woke up, she had been told she was in a coma for days and could finally speak. How long had she been asleep this time?
She lay there, frozen, listening to the voice discussing how to make her obedient. She felt paralyzed until a hand started to roam over her body.
Her breathing became rapid with fear. She desperately tried to escape the touch, but her body felt so heavy, she couldn't even lift a finger.
"Let go of me! Let go!" she screamed, slapping the hand away and trying to roll off the bed, her face pale.
K's voice came again. "Selena, this is the price of disobedience. Who told you to remove that earring? I'm very disappointed. I told you, our cooperation depends on you, but you've let me down."
His tone was as gentle as ever, but Selena knew he was a master of deception.
She felt her whole body stiffen. She couldn't make out the words anymore, just the sound of K instructing someone on how to make her suffer.
"Get away! Get away!" she cried, her forehead drenched in sweat, not realizing she was gripping Raymond's wrist so tightly her nails had drawn blood.
Raymond didn't seem to feel the pain. He pulled her into his arms. "Selena, what's wrong? Please, don't make me worry like this."
His voice was pleading, especially when he saw her staring at the ceiling with a look of utter despair. It broke his heart.

Selena's mouth hung open slightly, her mind flooded with voices-shouting, pleading, all kinds. It made her feel nauseous.
The noise was overwhelming. She wanted to throw up.
She pushed Raymond away and tried to get out of bed, forgetting she couldn't see.
She fell, but Raymond caught her just in time.
He held her tightly. "What do you need? I'll take you."
Selena nodded, her face drained of color.
He carried her to the bathroom, where she found the sink and started to vomit.
Raymond wiped the sweat from her forehead. "Another nightmare?"
"Raymond, my head hurts so much. There are so many voices in my head, all talking at once. I can't understand them. I just want some peace. I can't sleep. It hurts."

She rinsed her mouth and leaned against him, exhausted.
"I'll call Victor to come over," Raymond said.
Selena weakly leaned into him. "Give me some painkillers or sleeping pills. I don't want
to hear those voices anymore. And K's... He said he'd torture me and you. He's succeeded. I feel awful."
Seeing her like this, Raymond's heart ached. He called Ralph, asking him to send Christopher over.
Christopher was a genius doctor who had access to the research base. He would know what was wrong with Selena.
At the same time, Raymond also called for Victor.
Surely, with two accomplished doctors, they could figure out what was happening.
Christopher's alter ego arrived quickly. He had told Ralph he knew about the chip, and since then, he had been under strict supervision, not allowed to contact anyone unless he handed over the chip.
But if he did, Christopher would become expendable. No one would care about his fate, and other countries still desperate for the chip would come after him.noveldrama
That was the reality.
