Chapter 232 Funding Crisis

After that last confrontation, Elsa and Jack stayed quiet for a few days. Unfortunately, the peace only lasted for two weeks.

Early in the morning, just as I settled into work, there was a knock on my office door. Heather pushed open the door and walked in, her face full of frustration. She didn't waste any time before groaning. "I can't do this anymore. I'm done!"

I chuckled, amused by her actions. "What now?"

Heather dropped into the chair across from me, looking absolutely miserable. "The production company doesn't have enough funding. The company hasn't officially started turning a profit yet, and we've already burned through the initial budget.

"I tried to submit a request for additional funding, but the finance department shot it down immediately. They said they're not covering the subsidiary's expenses anymore."

She clutched her head in frustration. "But one of the films is almost done. All we need is the post-production budget. If we stop now, then everything we worked for will go to waste!"

I listened patiently and only spoke once she was done. "Did they say who blocked the request?"

Heather shook her head. "Nope. It was just a straight-up rejection. They're practically leaving us to rot. The script isn't well-known enough yet. Where am I supposed to find sponsors?"

I lowered my gaze, thinking for a moment. Then, I looked up with a faint smile. "Well, if there's no money, we'll just halt production for now," I said lightly.

Heather's eyes widened in shock. It was clear she hadn't expected that response, nor had she even considered it as an option.

I stood up and patted her shoulder. "Just proceed with the shutdown. In the

meantime, everyone can take a break for a while or find something else to work on."

"But..." Heather hesitated.

I smiled. "You've got me. What's there to worry about?"

I put on a fake pout. "What? Or do you not trust my abilities?"noveldrama

Heather quickly waved her hands. Then, looking as if she were about to march to her doom, she said, "Of course, I trust you!"

Her reluctant expression was so amusing that I couldn't help but chuckle. "Don't worry. It'll be sorted out soon. Just head back and wait for the funds to come through."

Hearing that, Heather nodded and left obediently.

But just as she reached the door, she turned back and looked at me with concern. "Ms. Brown... I'm not gonna lose my job over this, am I?"

I let out a helpless chuckle. "How could that happen? Don't worry. Even if the production company goes under, I'll find a way to bring you back."

With my reassurance, Heather finally relaxed, her face lighting up as she left.

Watching her walk away, my expression darkened. Jack and Elsa just couldn't stay quiet for long.

What kind of bad luck must Jack have accumulated to be constantly played by Elsa like this? Otherwise, why would he blindly follow her every word?

Because of my decision, the production company was forced to halt operations.

During this time, Ned grew increasingly anxious about how this would impact the film's release. He came to me multiple times, trying to talk me into resuming work. But each time, I convinced him to stand down.

Of course, I could have secured sponsorships to get things back on track. But if I did that, Jack would never learn his lesson.

Hence, I left things as they were, letting the situation play out naturally.

Eventually, when the problem became too big to ignore, there would be only two possible outcomes-either Jack would give in or the board members would force him to. As for which way it would go, I just had to sit back and watch.

Two weeks later, the board members finally caught on to the stalled production. Wasting no time, they called for an emergency board meeting.
