Chapter 493 Door Lock Code
But soon, all the beautiful things Archibald had just imagined were shattered.
Emily had just served him a bowl of chicken soup, and he was grateful.
But then she spoke, "I came to see you because I need your help."
Archibald had caught snippets of the morning news.
He didn't usually keep up with the news, but during his short drive, he had heard some of it on the radio. However, the radio only provided limited information, not as detailed as what you could find on a smartphone.
So, Archibald only knew that Michael had been caught drunk.
He had no idea it was serious enough to involve sexual misconduct and assaulting a
woman.
No wonder it made the news.
And no wonder Emily had come to him so suddenly.
Archibald's heart sank. Everything Emily did was for Michael.
And the only reason he could be of any use was because his brother Dean was mentioned in the reports.
The chicken soup in front of him suddenly lost its appeal, just steaming slowly.
Archibald gripped his spoon tightly, his brow furrowed, thinking to himself, 'How did Dean get involved in this? Is it because of that woman again?'
Seeing Archibald take a deep breath and seemingly tense up, Emily fluttered her eyelids, realizing something.
"Archibald, I came to you mainly to ask you to contact Dean.
"Of course, I don't expect Dean to tell me the whole truth, especially since he's so close
to Sophia now. I just want to know if Michael really assaulted someone while drunk, or
if there's some hidden conspiracy behind this."
Archibald looked up at Emily, seeing a solemn expression on her face.noveldrama
She was indeed the mother of Michael's child. Her heart was still with Michael.
No matter how much effort he put in, he couldn't change how she felt.
Archibald looked at the chicken soup in front of him, suddenly finding it tasteless, even a bit ironic.
But what he was more concerned about was what Dean and Sophia had conspired to do.
Could it really be as Emily said, that there was some hidden conspiracy?
If that were the case, Archibald resolved that no matter what, after this incident, he would take Dean away from Emerald City, never to return, the farther the better.
Could it really be as Celeste said, that the Lancaster family would be ruined by Dean? Seeing Archibald's expression soften and a decision forming in his eyes, Emily felt slightly relieved but still didn't dare to relax.
She continued, "Actually, I had another solution in mind."
Hearing this, Archibald's gaze sharpened, his tone deepening. "What solution?"
Emily continued confidently, "There's a bar. Even though the lighting was dim last night, the surveillance footage should still be clear. But if we go that route..."
Emily didn't finish her sentence, but Archibald understood.
If Dean was behind this, Emily could go to the bar and find out for sure.
Then they could proceed legally, but it would be messy.
Emily had come to him first to find Dean and handle this discreetly, preserving everyone's dignity.
Emily's concerns made sense; family reputation was crucial.

After a moment of contemplation, Archibald nodded slowly, having made up his mind. He knew this was Emily giving Dean a chance.
"Emily, wait here. I'll call Dean."
Meanwhile, Veda was nearly pounding down the door of Emerald Lake Manor.
Last night, Michael had left Patrick's house and come straight to Emerald Lake Manor.
He hadn't been back there in a long time, but last night, reeking of alcohol and feeling low, he had returned to the bedroom he once shared with Emily. The place brought back a flood of memories.
Michael sat quietly on the edge of the bed, eventually falling into a deep sleep.
So when Veda knocked early in the morning, there was no response.
"Why doesn't Emerald Lake Manor have any servants?" Veda stood at the door, nearly exploding with frustration.
She angrily dialed Michael's number again. The phone rang inside, but no one answered.
Veda worked diligently at Smith Corporation. Who would have thought Michael would become so disheveled and involved in such a scandal?
The media had swarmed Smith Corporation's entrance, and she had barely managed to sneak out through the parking garage.
Now at Emerald Lake Manor, Veda wanted answers from Michael.
What exactly happened last night? If it wasn't true, they needed to resolve it quickly!
She might be able to wait, but Smith Corporation's plummeting stock price couldn't.
Veda took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. Suddenly, an idea struck her. Emily probably had the key to Emerald Lake Manor. Even if she didn't, she would know the door code.
Veda quickly dialed Emily's number. After two rings, Emily answered.
"Hello, Emily?" Veda's voice was nearly frantic.
Emily thought something had happened and quickly asked, "Veda, did something happen to Michael?"
Archibald was right there, watching Emily almost jump out of her chair, her face turning pale.
She cared about Michael, no doubt about it.
"Emily, where are you? Do you know the door code for Emerald Lake Manor? Michael isn't answering his phone or the door. He's probably still passed out drunk from last night!"
Hearing this, Emily became anxious too. "I don't know, but what about Lexine and the others?"
Veda replied helplessly, "Lexine? After you left, Michael soon dismissed everyone. He rarely comes back, and Emerald Lake Manor is practically abandoned. I don't know why he came back last night!"
Emily's heart tightened.
Veda then asked, "What's your birthday?"
Emily hesitated for a moment, then gave a string of numbers.
"0917, that's it!" Veda exclaimed.
Veda had a hunch that Michael, being the sentimental man he was, might have set the
door code to Emily's birthday. She was right.
"It's open! Thank you, I'll hang up now!"
Before Emily could respond, she heard a click, followed by the sound of the door
opening and closing, and then the call ended.
What do you think?
