Chapter 505 Scarlett Again
Abigail had the day off, and it was a beautiful, cloudless day.
Emily changed into a simple white dress, tidied herself up, and used a shark clip to pin up her hair. She grabbed a small Chanel chain bag and walked out of her room at a
slow, steady pace.
Abigail had already pulled the car up to the front door and got out to greet Emily with
care.
"Why does Mr. Smith insist on seeing you today? He knows you're not in the best condition to be moving around. Doesn't he care about his grandchild's safety?" Abigail disapproved of Mason's actions.
After all, he was a patient, and Emily was pregnant. If anything happened, the Smith family would surely blame Emily without a second thought. They couldn't afford such trouble.
But seeing Emily's determination, Abigail had no choice but to accompany her. "Don't worry, I've seen their tricks before. This time, I won't leave your side. I'll make sure no one gets close to you or Harry. Godmother will protect him!"
Emily gently patted Abigail's hand and smiled. "Grandpa is just concerned about me. Maybe..."
After a moment of hesitation, Emily's expression turned serious. "Maybe he has something important to tell me."
Abigail sighed and opened the car door, helping Emily in carefully before getting into the driver's seat and starting the car.
Sunlight streamed through the car window, warming Emily's face. She squinted slightly, feeling the warmth but growing more anxious inside.noveldrama
It had been a long time since she last visited the Smith Mansion. To her, it was a cold, deceitful place, almost like hell. She had endured three years of torment there, each time leaving with physical and emotional scars.
Now, she was returning for Mason, but memories of Scarlett crept into her mind.
Scarlett had been at the last shareholders' meeting, indicating she was no longer under house arrest. Mason, who valued the Smith family's reputation, wouldn't let Scarlett and his son officially divorce. The vast Smith Mansion would surely provide her a place to stay.
As Emily expected, Scarlett appeared shortly after they arrived at the mansion. She was dressed in luxurious loungewear, with flawless makeup, holding a cup of coffee, and sitting elegantly in the living room.
When Emily and Abigail walked in, Scarlett didn't move, just placed her coffee cup on the high-end wooden coffee table and let out a light laugh. Her gaze, sharp as an ice pick, fixed on Emily.
This time, Scarlett was smarter than usual, saying nothing but letting her expression speak volumes.
Seeing this, Emily chose not to confront Scarlett directly. She smiled faintly but remained cautious. "Abigail, wait here for me."
Abigail had quit Smith Corporation a while back. To her, this place was just a hornet's nest. Now, as Emily's protector, she wouldn't let anyone harm her. She glared at everyone with hostility, making it clear she was not to be messed with.

"Alright! You go ahead, I'll be right here! Let's see who dares to mess with you in front of me!"
Abigail's words had a hidden meaning.
Scarlett frowned slightly, displeasure flashing in her eyes, but she held back. She knew Emily and Abigail were talking about her. But her current position was unstable, having just returned to the Smith Mansion.
The people who had been loyal to her were all gone, and the butler's authority was now in Benjamin's hands, not hers. Mason had also warned her to control her temper, so she had to endure.
Scarlett sat in the living room, wary of Abigail. She sipped her coffee, crossing her legs, trying to maintain her composure.
Abigail, not one to back down, picked up a freshly poured coffee, deliberately lifting and setting it down heavily, causing some to spill. She stared back at Scarlett with determination.
Scarlett was startled. This woman was not as gentle as Emily and seemed tough to deal with. But this was the Smith family; who was she afraid of? Emily was untouchable, but an outsider like Abigail?
Scarlett's eyes flashed with malice, but she kept her cold smile, setting her coffee cup down gracefully. When she spoke, her words were laced with venom.

"What's the matter? Can't handle the coffee? I guess you young girls aren't used to quality coffee. Maybe those 50-cent drinks outside suit you better."
Scarlett's condescending tone was met with a cold laugh from Abigail, who retorted without hesitation. "What's wrong with 50-cent drinks? Young people drink those all the time. Why don't you? Couldn't get them while you were detained abroad? Or is it because your taste has changed with age? Probably both, right?"
Scarlett's face twisted with anger. She had intended to flaunt the Smith family's power in front of Abigail, but it seemed unnecessary now.
People really do flock together, and Abigail's lack of decorum was only tolerated because of Emily.
Yes, Emily! It was strange that Mason had called Emily over on Scarlett's first day back. Was it to embarrass her?
What urgent matter required a meeting in the study today? Could it be about the Smith family inheritance?
Mason wouldn't leave a large portion of the estate to Emily's unborn child, would he? Who knew if the child was even Michael's?
Scarlett's mind raced with suspicion, her eyes never leaving Abigail. The woman's pretentiousness was just like Emily's!
Scarlett was stuck, unable to leave and eavesdrop or stay and argue. It was a frustrating dilemma.
