Chapter 415
On one hand, she felt a twisted sense of satisfaction. That little brat Charlie was only fit for the ground, having never experienced the fatherly love her daughter now basked in.
"Mom."
Sandy called out to Dahlia with a perceptive sweetness. Dahlia immediately went over. Sandy, comfortably nestled in Charles's arms, reached out for Dahlia. Without missing a beat, Dahlia reached back, using the moment to cozy up right next to Charles, pressing close against him.
The mature, masculine scent of him stirred something deep within Dahlia. How could she ever let this man go? No way was she going to let Charles find out that Evelyn was actually Debbie. Charles was hers.
Dahlia subtly leaned in closer to Charles. From afar, they looked like the perfect picture of a happy family trio. It wasn't until the specialists Charles had summoned arrived that Dahlia had to get up. Charles gently laid Sandy down.noveldrama
After a thorough consultation, the specialists and Charles headed to the office to discuss Sandy's condition. Dahlia stayed back to care for Sandy. Once Charles had left, Dahlia withdrew her hand, stepped aside, and pulled out her phone. Spotting evidence linking Evelyn to Debbie, a flash of malice crossed her eyes. She couldn't let this slide. Dahlia's fingers flew across the screen, sending off a text.
...
Half an hour later, Charles emerged from the office, his face somber. The doctor's words played on repeat in his mind. Sandy's kidneys were rejecting; things were critical. They needed to find a matching donor fast, or else...
He had already lost Charlie. He couldn't bear to lose Sandy too. No matter what, he was going to find a kidney for Sandy and keep her safe.
In the hospital room, as soon as Charles appeared, Dahlia, who had been sitting by the bed, stood up to meet him. Her eyes were red, and she clung to Charles's hand, desperation in her voice, "Charles, what did the specialists say? Sandy's going to be okay?right?"

Seeing the worry etched on Dahlia's face, like she might shatter any second, tugged at Charles's heart. He gently squeezed her hand, comforting her in a soft voice, Don't worry, the doctors said if we act fast, Sandy will be alright."
"Charles, you have to help Sandy. She's all I've got; she's my world."
Dahlia broke down in tears, collapsing into Charles's arms. Charles tensed but didn't pull away. He gently patted her back, offering quiet assurance and a promise, “I said wouldn't let you and Sandy suffer anymore. I've already made a call to find a matching kidney for Sandy."
"Why does fate have to be so cruel to my Sandy? She's been through so much ever since she was born..."
Dahlia wanted to linger in Charles's arms a little longer. She cried in his embrace about the unfairness Sandy faced, expressing her heartache. Because of this, Charles didn't push her away.
That is until his phone suddenly rang. Charles pulled it out, seeing Andrew's name on the screen, and his expression shifted. He had told Andrew to notify him immediately if anything happened with Josephine.
Thinking quickly, Charles answered, "Andrew, what's up?"
"Charles, Ms. Evelyn's mother has had an accident."
At the news of Josephine's accident, Charles immediately pushed Dahlia away and hurried out of the room. Dahlia didn't stop him. Even if he went, it was too late. The woman was as good as gone.
