The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance

Chapter 623

Aurora asked, "What does this have to do with Stella?"

Sherman's jaw clenched. "Uncle just arrived in Neo-Vespera today. He has no enemies here, and the car's always serviced on schedule. The only person he clashed with today was Stella. Aside from her, I can't think of anyone else who'd go this far.

And..."

He paused, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

"She's always despised you, Aurora-wouldn't hesitate to get rid of you if she could. If she tampered with Uncle's car, it'd be killing two birds with one stone!"

Aurora's brow furrowed. "Sherman, these are serious accusations. You can't just throw them around without proof."

Sherman let out a cold laugh. "Think about it, Aurora. If something happened to you, the Williams family would only have Stella left-she'd inherit everything by default. As long as you're still around, no matter how hard Stella tries, she'll never get a piece of what's yours.noveldrama

You grew up in the Williams family, pampered from day one. Stella, on the other hand, was raised out in the sticks, scraping by. Now she's back, watching you have everything she never did-how could she not be jealous?

Maybe before, she couldn't touch you. But now... it wouldn't even be hard for her. Aurora, stop being so naïve."

Aurora opened her mouth to argue, but the car jolted violently again.

Simone cut in, "Now's not the time for this. We need to figure out what to do."

Sellers' eyes were cold and focused.

Everyone's lives were literally in his hands-he had to be careful.

He said, "Since the brakes are out, our only option is to force a stop."

There weren't many cars on the road at this hour, but he still had to swerve to avoid them, and the vehicle rocked dangerously.

Sherman's worry showed. "Uncle, your car's been modified, so there's some extra protection. But Aurora and Simone-they might not handle an impact like that. They could get badly hurt."

Sellers replied, "Better a few broken bones than ending up dead."

Ordinary drivers in their situation would almost certainly crash and burn. But Sellers was a former racecar driver-he was confident he could keep everyone alive, though injuries were a given.

He turned to Aurora and Simone. "What do you think?"

Aurora, ever the composed lady, steadied herself quickly. "I trust you, Sellers. Do what you need to."

Simone nodded. "I'm with Aurora."

Sellers gave a reassuring nod. "Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you."

His gaze locked on the car speeding ahead, a cold determination flashing in his eyes.

He slammed his foot on the gas-the car surged forward, picking up even more speed.

Sherman, no stranger to fast cars himself, instantly grasped Sellers' plan.

A dark smile crept across Sherman's face. "If we have to crash, Stella's car is the perfect target. She brought this on herself-serves her right."

In Sherman's mind, Stella was as good as gone.

After all, Sellers' driving skills were second only to Henley's. Stella? She was just

a pampered wife who'd married up-no way she could out-drive someone like Sellers.

When it came to racing, Stella was nowhere near Sellers' league. She'd be crushed.

Stella had only sped up and

overtaken Sellers' car because she didn't want to get caught up in

whatever trouble he was having. She

wasn't about to risk her own neck to

save him, not out of some

misplaced sense of charity.

But just moments after passing him, Stella felt a jolt at the rear of her car—a hard impact.

She'd already been going fast after overtaking, and hadn't slowed down yet. Now, with that sudden hit, she lost control, her car skidding wildly, tracing a huge arc across the empty road.
