Chapter 202
"How shameless can he be? Earlier, when he was asking for medicine, he claimed to be Eastorian."
"He has no respect for his roots. This scum deserves a good beating."
"Yes! Beat up that asshole. If you don't, I will."
Mason also got angry at what Caron said. It reminded Mason of the time Harold mentioned they were from the same hometown and begged Caron for three asphode grass, only to be met with mockery and ridicule. Mason flared up in anger and started swinging the stick like crazy. Caron passed out as he screamed his head off.
Matthew watched the scene unfold without saying a word. Mason was growing on him more and more.
Mason was smart, had a bit of fire in him, and was tough. Even though he was young, he was bound to achieve great things in the future.
Breathing heavily, Mason came up to Matthew and asked, "Are you saying that my grandpa was taken away by those Eastorians?"
Matthew patted Mason's back. "There's a good chance of that. They're collecting books on traditional medicine, and your family probably has Codex Chillwind. Maybe that's what they're after."
Upon hearing "Codex Chilldwind", Mason's expression changed drastically. "That book is still around."
Matthew held Mason's hand. "Have you seen it?"
Mason nodded. "That book has been sitting in my bag all along."
Matthew was taken aback by how easily he found the book. "I have a medical background, Mason. I can teach you medicine if you want, but you have to acknowledge me as your mentor." Mason immediately dropped to his knees. "Please take me as your apprentice, Mr. Grant. I shall kneel before you."
Matthew found himself liking Mason. He was a sharp person. "I'm happy to accept you as my apprentice, but you should be warned that being my apprentice is no easy task. You'll have to study medicine and keep up with physical training."
With a look of determination, Mason declared, "I was raised in a village, so I can handle tough work. As long as I get to learn medicine, I don't mind working out, even if it means hauling rocks up a hill."
Standing at the side, Harold was delighted by what he saw. Back then, he had dreams of studying medicine, but his bad memory made it hard for him to remember the prescriptions.
There were two instances where Harold practiced medicine alone and almost got into trouble.
When Nelson came back, he harshly slapped Harold and ordered him to stay away from traditional medicine. At last, Mason got to pursue traditional medicine.
In the distance, a convoy of cars was making its way here. The convoy sped into town, causing a commotion among cars and pedestrians.novelbin
The screeching of brakes rang out, causing the people on the road to frown upon it. The convoy came to a stop.
As the door of the first car opened, Ethan stepped out. A bunch of burly men got out of the other cars and stayed right behind Ethan.
Upon seeing Caron on the ground, Ethan immediately erupted in anger. Since Ozenia Charity was founded 15 years ago, Ethan had been welcomed with flowers and applause wherever he went. Nobody in Lambda would dare to mess with his people. But today, someone actually dared to attack them.
Ethan shouted in anger to everyone around and asked, "Who did this? Show yourself."
Upon seeing this, the onlookers around were frightened and backed away.
"It's me." Matthew stepped forward right away.
Ethan sized up Matthew. The longer he looked, the more disdainful he became. "How dare you hit my men? You've got some nerve, but you can't afford the consequences. You'll end up worse than Caron did." After saying that, Ethan waved his hand. "Everyone, get him! Beat him until he's on his knees, begging for forgiveness."
