The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 207

A cab arrived at the entrance of Goldstore Warehouse in the eastern suburbs. After exiting the cab, Matthew went to a convenience store and bought a pack of cigarettes.

He walked up to the security booth and handed over a cigarette to the man inside. "Hey man, my boss is looking to buy a warehouse. Is this one for sale?"

The security guards took the cigarette and flashed Matthew a mile. "There's a notice on the wall about selling the warehouse. Of course, it's for sale." Matthew chuckled. He asked the earlier questions because he had already spotted the notice. "Just curious, is business good around here?"

The security guard shook his head. "Business is bad. It's decent in the summer, but there's almost no business in the winter. I'm quitting soon."

Matthew frowned and asked, "I passed by this place yesterday and saw multiple trucks coming in. How can there be no business?"

The security guard lit the cigarette and took a puff. "Oh, you mean yesterday? That's just a short-term thing. They only rented the place for ten days, and they'll be moving out soon." Matthew nodded. "Call your boss and tell him someone's interested in buying the warehouse."

The security guard was taken aback. "Buddy, the business here is dead. Are you sure your boss wants to buy this place?"

Matthew smiled and replied, "Who cares if there's business or not? It's the boss who's paying. Whether he makes or loses money, it's not my concern.

"My boss promised me a 100-thousand-dollar bonus and a promotion to warehouse manager for getting a warehouse. Let me make some quick cash first."

The guard's attitude immediately became more enthusiastic. "I'll call the boss right away. My name's Bruce Kaufman. After your boss buys this place, I hope I can continue working here as a security guard." Matthew grinned and said, "Don't worry. If I'm the manager, you'll be the security captain."

Half an hour later, Matthew successfully purchased the warehouse. With the security captain guiding him around, Matthew inspected each storage unit for any safety concerns. Then, he came to Cold Storage 11 and found the medicinal herbs.

"Keep an eye for these herbs for me, Bruce. No one is allowed to touch them without my permission. If you complete this task, I'll promote you to assistant warehouse manager." Bruce excitedly held Matthew's hand. "You're my lifesaver, Mr. Grant. They can't even pay us here anymore.

"I thought I'd have to find a new job, but meeting you has turned things around for me. Rest assured, no one will lay a finger on these herbs without your permission."

Seeing how genuine Bruce was, Matthew patted him on the shoulder. "Starting now, you're the assistant warehouse manager. When I'm not here, you'll be the acting manager. "Alright then. I'm leaving. The warehouse is in your hands."novelbin

Bruce was so excited that he was at a loss for words. He was about to lose his job, but now he had secured a job and got promoted.

"Hey man, I really appreciate you. Hold up, dinner's on me. Let's get some wings and beers tonight."

Matthew beamed. "I have plans today, but let's catch up another night."

...

After parting with Bruce, Matthew went back to the company. Opening the door to the president's office, Matthew saw Rachel ending a call. Rachel spotted Matthew. "Perfect timing. Give me a ride somewhere."

Matthew could tell Rachel was in a hurry and figured it was about the herbs. He decided to break the good news about finding the herbs to her first. "I"

Rachel cut Matthew off before he could continue. "Hold off on that. I made an appointment, so let's get going."

Feeling dejected, Matthew nodded. He was looking forward to sharing the good news about the herbs with Rachel, but he didn't get a chance to say anything. On the way, Matthew noticed Rachel had a troubled look and seemed to be deep in thought. He didn't want to disrupt her train of thought, so he drove silently.

20 minutes later, they stopped in front of a villa. Matthew sized up the place and noticed that the villa covered about three acres of land.

It was a three-story house with a yard full of exotic flowers and plants, a rock garden, and a small bridge. The place looked sophisticated. With one glance, Matthew could tell the people living here were rich. Rachel rang the doorbell and waited for a while before a woman showed up on the video intercom and said, "We're busy right now. Just hang on a minute."

With that, she turned off the intercom. Feeling more anxious, Rachel started to pace around the door.
