The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 209

Matthew sent Rachel back to her office.

Afterward, the first thing he did was to call Benjamin. "Get in touch with Austin, Benjamin. His treatment fee has gone from 100 million dollars to 300 million dollars." Benjamin was startled. "Did he do something that upset you, Mr. Grant?"

Matthew didn't feel like explaining himself, so he simply said, "I just want to raise the price, that's all."

Benjamin was bewildered, but he didn't dare pry further since Matthew didn't want to talk about it.

With that, he followed Matthew's instructions obediently. "I'll call him right away to inform him about the fee increase. Do you need your Benji for anything else, Mr. Grant?"

Matthew was thrown off by how Benjamin had used that nickname with himself again. "That's everything. I'm hanging up now."

In the villa, Austin felt better after receiving a painkiller injection. Looking up, he saw Lance entering with a gloomy expression and frowned.

"Why the long face? The miracle doctor agreed to treat me, and we just got another 50 million dollars. It's a good time to celebrate."

Lance wanted to say something but hesitated. He was worried that Austin couldn't handle the truth. However, if he didn't bring it up, he wouldn't have the authority to access such a large sum of money. Noticing Lance's reluctance, Austin snapped, "You moron! I just started feeling better after the painkiller injection, and now you're here dragging things out. If you have something to say, say it."

With a worried expression, Lance replied, "Don't be disheartened by what I'm about to say, Dad."

Austin's expression changed drastically. "What are you saying? Is the miracle doctor not treating me anymore?"

Lance shook his head. "The miracle doctor didn't say that."

Austin felt relieved. Things would be fine as long as Miractor Doctor was willing to treat him. As long as it wasn't life-threatening, he didn't mind anything else.

"Go on. Everything else isn't important, so I won't take it to heart. Just speak up."

Upon hearing Austin's words, Lance felt much more at ease. "Here's the story. Benjamin called and told me that the miracle doctor increased the fee to 300 million dollars." Austin looked utterly defeated, slumping on the couch. He muttered, "That's brutal. He's taking everything I have. Didn't you ask Benjamin to negotiate for a lower price?"novelbin

Lance sounded somewhat dejected. "I brought it up, but Benjamin said no money means no treatment."

Austin's face contorted in agony as if it hurt more than having his flesh cut. He stuttered, "Give him 300 million dollars then."

...

In the afternoon, Matthew finally got to see Austin at the Opulent Club. He was a frail old man with a bluish complexion. His dry lips had a purple hue, and he carried a bag on his waist. The painkiller injections must have been inside. After taking a few glances, Matthew could tell it was Marrowfragia. Having this illness felt like suffering through numerous cuts. It was simply unbearable.

Rachel greeted Austin with a handshake. "Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule. We're counting on you for the Smith family matter." With a darkened expression, Austin replied, "No problem. It's just a small matter.

"In Lambda, I'm the only person who can make the Smith family back down. Just leave it to me, and I'll make sure they won't mess with you again." Rachel finally got the words she wanted. "It's truly an honor to meet you, Mr. Stanford Senior."

Austin glanced at Matthew, finding him rude for not saying hello since they arrived.

Feeling agitated, Austin asked, "Who is this guy?"

Rachel quickly pulled Matthew up and said, "He's my fiancé."

Austin shook his head, expressing his disapproval of Matthew. "He's really disrespectful, and he isn't good enough for you."

Matthew knitted his brows together. The old geezer was meddling with his engagement. It looked like he had to raise the treatment fee higher. Rachel nudged Matthew. "Get up now and greet Mr. Stanford Senior."

Matthew disdainfully remarked, "We've paid 50 million dollars. He's here for the money. It's not like it becomes free when I say hello." Austin was visibly upset and snapped, "I'm in bad shape and still going out of my way for your sake. How can you say something like that?"

Rachel was taken aback when Matthew made such remarks. If she had known, she wouldn't have brought him along.

Knowing she couldn't change Matthew's mind, she tried to placate Austin. "He just speaks without thinking, Mr. Stanford Senior. He's young and doesn't know any better. Please don't let it upset you."

Austin coldly grunted. "If it weren't for Ms. Carter, I'd have left already."

Matthew's mouth twitched. It was clearly all about money, but Austin tried to make it seem like he was doing it for Rachel. He was so greedy but still wanted to act all noble.
