Chapter 809
Tony was infuriated. "I-I'm fine now. I'm not crazy anymore. I'm back to normal."
Clive disdainfully remarked, "What does that have to do with me? Even if you're better, it doesn't change anything. You only scored one point in the medical license exam. You're not getting your medical license, so why the hell should I suck up to a doctor who can't even practice?"
Tony felt like lightning had struck him. His vision went dark, and the world started spinning. He tried his best to stay on his feet, but he wobbled and tipped over to the side.
Noticing Tony was about to fall, Matthew darted over to support him by the arm and quickly pinched it.noveldrama
The sharp pain snapped Tony back to his senses. Looking at Clive, he was so furious that his hand shook as he pointed at Clive.
"You're not grateful to me for saving your kid at all! You were just buttering me up because I was a skilled doctor, and that was why you hoped to treat me to a meal. If I had known, I—"
Tony started stuttering, unable to find his words.
He was just a doctor-saving lives was what he did best. What could he even do against someone who kicked him when he was down?
Many passersby gathered outside Reel Good Eats. Even the customers eating inside the restaurant put down their cutlery to watch what was going on.
The onlookers pointed at them and gossiped among themselves. Everyone had something to say.
Worried about his business, Clive snapped at Tony, "Aren't you leaving? Do I have to get some guys to throw you out?"
With an awkward expression, Tony turned to Matthew and said, "Sorry. I didn't expect this to happen. Let's go eat somewhere else."
Matthew motioned Tony to hold on and turned to Clive. "Did you wake up feeling a bit groggy this morning?"
Clive had no idea who Matthew was, so he asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"
Matthew continued, "After you wake up each morning, doesn't your face always feel sticky? It's even worse on cloudy days, isn't it?"
Clive eyed Matthew, growing more curious about who he was. Matthew's words were spot-on-his face felt greasy every morning. On overcast days, it felt even more uncomfortable.
Matthew added, "Your tongue has a yellowish hue, and your mouth tastes bitter. You don't have much appetite in the morning. Even when it's your favorite food, you can only eat a little. Isn't that so?"
Clive repeatedly nodded, "Yes. That's exactly how it is. What's wrong with me?"
Matthew sighed and remarked, "You should really eat whatever you want and go to places you wish to visit before it's too late. Give yourself a break."
With his eyes wide open, Clive turned pale. "You can't be serious. How can this happen to me? Are you sure you're not mistaken? I had a health check-up last year, and there were no issues at all."
Matthew scoffed. "Health examinations aren't perfect. If they could catch every problem, wouldn't we live forever? You're in pretty bad shape. Lately, things in the bedroom don't last long for you. Just spending a brief intimate moment with a woman makes you break out in a sweat. You feel drained, like you can't muster any strength at all.
"All of this is because your health has been rapidly declining. Long story short, you don't have much time left."
What the hell? He was right about everything!
Clive felt like he'd been hit over the head with a hammer. His vision went dark, and his body felt weak. After taking a deep breath, he gazed at Matthew with pleading eyes.
"You can tell what's wrong with me, so I'm sure you can treat me. Help me get better, please. Money won't be an issue. I've got enough and don't mind spending
it."
Matthew grunted. "I'm not short on money either."
Clive was momentarily taken aback, then pleaded once more, "I'm begging you to save me. You can't just leave me to die."
Matthew nonchalantly responded, "It's not happening. I won't help someone ungrateful."
With that, Matthew helped Tony and turned to leave.
What do you think?
