The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 564 Grace's Death

There was a light in Grace's eyes again, and her expression looked much better than it had been in a while. This was the happiest she had looked since the Langley family's downfall and the collapse of Langley Group.

Kenton held his phone out of her sight, frantically sending messages to urge Victor.

Victor replied that he was almost there, telling him not to rush.

Finally, 20 minutes later, Victor entered the hospital room Kenton had designated, bringing a young woman with him.

"Grace, look. Megan's here!" Kenton quickly leaned down and whispered in her ear. Tears fell from Grace's eyes as she struggled to sit up, and Kenton rushed to support her.

"Grace, Megan's here. Come, Megan. This is your birth mother."

The woman stepped forward and looked Grace over from head to toe, then she said, "I'm not your daughter. I'm not Megan. This man here gave me 500 bucks to act. Your real daughter is already dead."noveldrama

She finished and turned to Victor, holding out her hand. "Mister, pay up."

Victor froze. "That's not what I told you to do! Why aren't you following the script?"

"I'm honest, so I don't lie. I just speak the truth. Now, hurry up and pay me," the woman said impatiently, rolling her eyes. "Having me act as a dead person is bad luck. No, thanks."

Victor was practically choking on his own breath. His jaw dropped, eyes wide in disbelief.

Kenton looked at Victor like he could kill him on the spot. "Victor, I asked you to handle it. Is this how you do things?"

"Uncle Kenton, I swear I didn't know she'd back out last minute. I already went over everything with her beforehand," Victor tried to explain.

But before he could finish, Grace collapsed back onto the bed. The light in her eyes vanished once more. She clutched Kenton's hand tightly, trembling as she stammered, "Ken, tell me. Is what she said true? Don't lie... Don't lie to me."

"It's true." The woman stepped forward again. "Your biological daughter had her legs broken by an old woman named Yvette Jenkins. She was locked in a basement without food or water. In the end, she couldn't take it anymore and faked surrender. While brushing her teeth, she used a toothbrush to stab her throat and committed suicide.

"This man, your brother, has the video of her death. If you don't believe me, ask him to show you."

"Shut up!" Kenton roared, eyes bloodshot, turning to Victor. "Victor, are you a goddamn idiot? Why would you tell her all that?"

"I didn't! Uncle Kenton, I swear I didn't. I don't even know what she's talking

about!" Victor shouted in his own defense. "All you told me to do was find a woman to pose as Megan. You didn't tell me anything else. How would I know any of this?"

Then, it hit Kenton-Victor had only gotten the order at the last minute, and the woman had been found at random. But she had spoken in vivid detail about what Megan suffered, how she died, and even mentioned the recording.

So how did this woman know?

"Ken, so what she said is true, isn't it?"

Grace's tears poured out. Ever since Natalie had left the Langley family, Grace's health had been in steady decline. Including the retaliation from Charlotte, Selena's madness, and the collapse of Langley Group, too much had fallen on her shoulders.

She had been forced to fix too much, worked constantly, and was often driven to chest pains by Selena's actions. Making it this far was already a feat in and of itself.

But her final wish was something that could never be fulfilled.

"Megan, my daughter!"

Grace suddenly let out a heart-wrenching scream and coughed up a mouthful of blood. Her body convulsed uncontrollably. Her eyes rolled to the back of her skull, wide open in death.

"Grace!"

Kenton screamed with everything in him, tears gushing uncontrollably. "Grace, wake up! Don't die! Don't die! We finally escaped Yvette's grip. We can finally live freely now. Please don't die. Please, I only have you left. What am I supposed to do without you? Grace!

"Doctor, doctor!"

Doctors and nurses rushed into the room, but after a quick check, they shook their heads in resignation.

After seeing that Grace had died, the woman immediately ran from the room, not even bothering to take the money Victor had promised.

Kenton cried so hard that his entire body trembled, while Victor stood there helplessly.

Soon, Grace's body was covered with a white sheet and wheeled into the hospital morgue.

Kenton knelt outside the morgue, his whole body shaking from sobs. "Grace, don't leave me.

"Victor, are you completely useless? I asked you to do one simple thing, and you couldn't even do that right!"

He sobbed for Grace while cursing Victor.

Victor shrank into himself. He was genuinely sad too. After all, Grace had raised him. He had called her "Mom" for years, and there were real feelings behind that.

Victor dropped to his knees in front of Kenton and started slapping himself. "Uncle Kenton, I swear I didn't know. I picked that woman up at random. I don't know how she

knew so much. I didn't tell her anything. I really don't know how this happened."

"What's the point of saying all that now?" Kenton covered his face, tears leaking through his fingers. "Grace died without ever seeing her daughter. And at the very end, she had to hear such awful news.

"But maybe it's better this way. Now, she can reunite with Megan in the afterlife. I'l send her off with a photo of Megan, so she can find her daughter."

"I'm sorry, Uncle Kenton. I'm so sorry," Victor apologized over and over. "It's all my fault."

"This can't be a coincidence," Kenton said hoarsely, finally starting to calm down after crying his heart out. "Someone didn't want Grace to pass peacefully. They wanted her to die in pain. This was an act of revenge."

Victor gasped in shock. "But who would do that?"

"You thick-headed idiot, even if I explained it, you wouldn't get it." Kenton rose to his feet. "Victor, you may not be Grace's biological son, but without her, you might not have even made it this far. She raised you, so handling her affairs is your responsibility.

"If you can't even manage that, then go to hell!"

Victor shivered violently. He wanted to say he might mess things up, but when he

saw the look in Kenton's eyes-like he might kill him on the spot-he swallowed

the words.

"Yes, Uncle Kenton. I understand. I'll take care of everything."

"Good." Kenton stood up. "I'm going up to investigate this."

"You handle things here."

"Yes, Uncle Kenton."
