Chapter 98
Chapter 98:
Randolph?
Why was he here?noveldrama
Dolores opened the door immediately. After stepping out, she thought of something and turned to look at Matthew, “Come back now. I’m afraid your presence will disturb my mother.”
Matthew also saw the people in front of them. He was the one who brought up the divorce earlier, so Jessica had reason to detest him.
Besides, Randolph was here too. It would be inappropriate for him to follow Dolores.
Matthew nodded. He laid his eyes on the little girl in Jessica’s arms. The little girl had black hair combed into two pigtails. She had a white, innocent face. Beneath the curly eyebrows was a pair of large, bright eyes. She looked like a delicately carved doll. She was like an angel.
Then she looked at Dolores. Out of his mind, he gripped the steering wheel tighter.
He had to admit that Dolores had two lovely children.
The boy was smart and the girl was adorable.
“You’re not that unlucky.” Even though she was abandoned by her father, she still had her mother. And now she even had two lovely children.
“What?” Dolores looked at him in confusion.
She didn’t understand what he meant by that.
Matthew reached up to move a lock of hair from in front of her eyebrows and eyes to behind her ear, “Nothing. Go ahead.”
Dolores froze and then nodded, “Okay.”
She closed the door and walked quickly toward Jessica. She dragged Randolph, who was bothering Jessica. Dolores stepped in front of Jessica and looked at Randolph, “What do you want?”
“Lola…” Randolph looked at his daughter. The hands that hung next to her body were clasped now, “Your father has made a mistake.”
Six years ago, when the company was in trouble, Annabelle had stolen the money and fled. Now Beulah was still in prison for what she did then.
When Randolph faced the difficult situation, it was Dolores, who had always been neglected by him, who helped him.
Presently, Dolores no longer wanted to argue about who was wrong and who was right. She had let it go. She said calmly, “Don’t come looking for us anymore.”
Then she brought her son upstairs and Jessica carried Simona in her arms.
Randolph ran to catch her, “Lola.”
“If you keep bothering me, I’ll call the police.” Dolores’ face darkened.
Randolph looked down at Simona, who was in his arms, and said with slightly reddened eyes, “Are those your children?”
“Yes.” Dolores’s patience was wearing thin.
“They’re very handsome. Like you.” Randolph still wanted to chat, “I have no other intentions. It’s just that I saw your mother today…”
Then he looked at Jessica, “and I knew you were back. Call me when you need me.”
He quickly pulled a card with his name on it out of his pocket and handed it to Dolores.
Dolores did not accept it.
Randolph looked embarrassed, “You can consider me a friend. Maybe someday you’ll need my help.” Dolores looked at him.
She had aged a lot over the years. Her hair at her temples was already white. He’d left in a hurry that year, and he didn’t know how he toiled in penury.
Dolores reached her hand to the card with her name on it and took it.
Randolph smiled and quickly moved out of Dolores’ way.
His action was very humble. He looked like a child who had made a mistake and acted carefully trying to fix it.
It would be a lie if he said he felt nothing for him.
He was her blood father.
The blood that ran through her body was connected to his.
“Liar.” Jessica tugged on Dolores’ hand, “Come on. Don’t be fooled by his act.”
Jessica felt nothing but hatred for Randolph.
She would never forgive him.
Dolores turned away with faint sadness and resignation and followed Jessica back.
As they entered the stairway, Dolores asked, “How did you run into him?”
“I took them out of the aquarium. When we were waiting for the bus by the road, he ran into us. He annoyed me and wanted to talk to me. He asked me if Samuel and Simona were your children. I didn’t want to talk to him, so we took a cab back. But I didn’t think he would follow us back.” When talking about Randolph, Jessica had not a smile but hatred on her face.
Dolores knew how much Randolph had hurt Jessica, so she didn’t try to persuade her. Because she hated him to some extent, too.
In these years, with two children by her side, Dolores gave them her undivided attention. As for things in the past, she had let a lot of them go. Beulah had been imprisoned and Randolph’s favorite daughter had betrayed him.
He had gotten what he deserved.
“From now on, you are not to contact him.” Jessica ordered Dolores, fearing that Dolores would go soft after seeing Randolph like this.
“He cruelly abandoned us and asked you to marry…”
“Mother, stop.” Dolores interrupted her. Two children were listening to their conversation.
At that moment, Jessica noticed and quickly shut up. She stroked Simona’s hair, “Simona, are you detesting Grandma?”
Simona shook her head. She didn’t understand what grandma was referring to. She only knew that granny didn’t seem to like that old man.
But Samuel heard everything and knew clearly.
He was Grandma’s husband, Mom’s father and her grandfather.
But granny didn’t want to forgive him for what he had done.
“It’s not early anymore. You must be hungry.” asked Dolores.
Simona nodded vigorously, “I want pizza.”
This little thing was the happiest person in the world. She didn’t have to think about anything but food and toys.
“Okay, today we’re going to have pizza.” Filled with affection, Dolores reached out to pinch Simona’s cheek, “Simona is the boss in this family.”
“What about me?” asked Samuel.
“You’re the second boss.” Dolores said earnestly.
Samuel looked grumpy, “Why? I’m her brother.”
“So tell me, do you admit your mistakes now?”.
“…”
Samuel immediately shut up, thinking about why he was still clinging to her.
He was a little regretful. He shouldn’t have asked her the question earlier.
Samuel felt like he had dug a hole he had dug himself into.
When they returned home, Dolores changed Samuel and Dolores’ shoes at the door. Jessica felt depressed and went into her room.
Watching Jessica’s back, Dolores knew that Jessica was suddenly feeling so upset because she was thinking about Jeremy.
Since giving birth to her two children, Jessica had been busy taking care of them. Being busy every day, Jessica didn’t have much time to think about the past.
After seeing Randolph today, Jessica could go back to thinking about the past.
Dolores took the two children by the hand and led them into the living room. She pulled out her phone, “What favor do you want?”
“Durian.” Simona grabbed Dolores’ arm and tossed, “I want durian pizza.”
“Okay.” Dolores clicked the durian pizza and looked at Samuel, “How about Samuel?”
“Cheese.” Samuel looked at Dolores, “Mom likes it.”
Dolores looked at her son, “What, are you trying to bribe me? Don’t think I’m going to let it go because you ingratiate yourself to me. If you don’t admit your mistakes, I won’t give you your stuff back.”
Samuel exhaled a sigh. It wasn’t funny. His plot was detected in a minute.
Dolores ordered the pizzas and hung up her phone, “Samuel, you play with your sister in the living room. I’ll go see your grandmother in her room.”
“Okay.”
Samuel was on his best behavior.
He was thinking about when Dolores would return his things to him.
“Mom, can I have a glass of juice first?” he was a little thirsty.
“Wait.” Dolores went to the kitchen and poured two glasses of juice. The juice in her house was all homemade, which had no additives and was healthier.
She handed the glasses to the children and then headed to Jessica’s room.
He grabbed the doorknob and turned it. Slowly, the door opened. He saw .
