When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 258

Josephine looked at Zayn coldly. "Zayn, stop embarrassing yourself. You're acting like a madman."

With that, she turned and walked toward the manor.

"Josephine, stop! Josephine! Josephine Dunn!" Zayn roared her name over and over, struggling desperately.

But the gardeners were strong from years of physical labor. Two of them held him firmly, one on each side, while George and Ethan blocked his way. He couldn't break free.

Josephine was right in front of him, yet it felt like there was an unbridgeable chasm between them.

She walked away with such determination. At that moment, he felt that even if he died right then and there, she wouldn't even spare him a single glance.

Back in the living room, Josephine sat down, hugging a pillow and curling her legs up.

Moments later, Ethan walked in.

He sat beside her and took her hand, realizing it was ice-cold. He wasn't sure if it was from the cold outside or from the fright she had just endured.

He draped his coat over her shoulders and gently rubbed her hands until they had gradually regained some warmth. Then, he was about to get up and pour her a cup of hot water.

Before he could leave, Josephine suddenly tightened her grip on his hand. "Don't go. Stay with me."

Ethan immediately sat back down. "Okay. I won't go."

She hesitated for a moment, then leaned in, resting her head lightly on his shoulder.

She used to do this with Graham all

the time. Back then, Graham was chubby, with broad, soft shoulders His shoulders were more

comfortable than any pillow.noveldrama

Ethan's shoulders were fitne

hard, yet still broad enough to lean on.

In her mind, Graham's image overlapped with Ethan's, merging and separating, again and again.

She couldn't help but smile. "You liked me back then, but you never showed it at all. I thought you only cared about your cats and dogs. I even thought you liked men."

After all, every time she stared at a handsome guy, he would follow her gaze and stare at them too.

Yet, he never once truly looked at her.

Hearing this ridiculous assumption, Ethan let out a laugh. "I wasn't looking at them because I was interested in them. I was just curious about the kind of guys you liked."

Josephine was curious. "What kind?" Even she wasn't entirely sure what her type

was.

Ethan smiled and said, "All kinds. As long as they were good-looking, you liked them. Regardless of their personality."

Josephine fell silent. Ethan's

response made her sound

completely superficial. But it was the

truth. She had always liked pretty boys. And as she grew older, she was drawn to handsome men. She had fallen for Yvan back then because of his looks as well.

"I don't mind you valuing appearance. After putting in the

effort, I realized that looks are the

easiest thing to maintain. I'll takonet

care of myself for you. I can't

promise to be the most attractive

man you've ever seen, but make

sure you're never disappointed."

Josephine suddenly felt embarrassed. She felt like one of those toxic men who pressured women to lose weight, get beauty treatments, and undergo plastic surgery.

"You don't have to do any of that. Just be yourself," Josephine said.

"Since I was 16, I've only had one goal in life-to spend the rest of my life with you. Loving you... is being myself."
