Chapter 167 Peeling Crawfish
A warm blush spread across Sierra's cheeks as she quickly lowered her gaze, too flustered to meet Theo's eyes.
"No, I was just impressed by how perfectly you peel crawfish. Do you eat crawfish often, Uncle Theo?"
"I don't like crawfish, and I've never peeled them before," Theo replied
indifferently, sitting up straight.
Sierra blinked in surprise. "Then, how are you so good at it?"
"I looked it up on my phone and learned while you were changing," he responded nonchalantly.
Sierra was stunned.
He had just learned how to peel crawfish, and yet he executed it so perfectly?
Still processing everything, she watched as Theo picked up the peeled crawfish. He carefully placed them in front of her and poured a generous amount of crawfish broth over them.
"Are these... for me?" she asked, her eyes widening in disbelief.
At the sight of her shock, his lips curled into a smile. "Yes, they're for you."
It turned out he had specifically learned how to peel crawfish just for her, and the first time he ever did it was to ensure she could enjoy them.
Sierra had never experienced such kindness before.
When she was with Benson, she was always the one making the effort. He didn't like scallions, so she'd carefully pick them out of their food. She was the one who removed the fish bones and peeled the crawfish for him.
After Bobby passed away, no one had ever shown her such care again.
Sierra picked up a crawfish and put it in her mouth. Suddenly, a wave of emotion hit her, and her nose tingled as tears welled in her eyes.
Noticing the change in her expression, Theo asked nervously, "What's wrong? Does it not taste good?"
Sierra quickly shook her head, forcing a smile as she looked at him. "No, it's delicious. I'm just really touched. Thank you for being so kind to me, Uncle Theo. Since my grandfather passed, no one's cared for me like this."
As soon as she finished speaking, she quickly turned away. A tear slipped down her cheek, falling quietly onto her plate.
In truth, Sierra had always been a crybaby.
Oddly, she barely shed tears when she was hurt. However, when someone showered with just a tiny bit of kindness, her emotions would come flooding out, impossible to hold back.
Madison had once told her she was a people-pleaser.
For years, Sierra had mostly been on her own. Although she had dated Benson for three years, their time together was mostly limited to work, with little outside connection.noveldrama
Despite being her boyfriend, he had never been a source of comfort or refuge for her.
Nonetheless, living alone had made her strong and independent.
Over the years, she cried less and less. Yet, in Theo's presence, every emotion felt more intense-whether it was sadness or gratitude, both made her want to cry.
Theo must have thought she was overly sentimental.
Seeing her tear-streaked face, Theo felt a sharp pang in his chest as though invisible needles were piercing his heart all at once.
Panicked, he quickly removed the disposable gloves and wiped his hands. Pulling her gently into his arms, he felt her slender shoulders tremble against him. The warm tears that stained his neck weighed heavily on his heart.
"I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice thick with remorse.
If only he had found her sooner, maybe she wouldn't have endured so much pain alone.
Sierra gently pushed against his chest, pulling herself upright. She grabbed a tissue and wiped her tears away, offering him a small, forced smile.
"Uncle Theo, you've already done so much for me. There's no need for you to apologize. I'm just too emotional, and I've embarrassed myself in front of you."
"You don't have to pretend to be strong with me." Theo gazed at her, his voice soft and reassuring.
What do you think?
