CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1627

Ben remained unresponsive no matter how much Jamie tried to wake him. Her hand paused mid-motion when she noticed the faint furrow in his brow. Her resolve wavered, and her heart softened, silencing her intention to shake him awake. She adjusted her posture, giving up on the idea entirely. What Jamie didn't notice was the subtle curve of Ben's lips, a fleeting hint of satisfaction.novelbin

By the time the plane landed, evening had fallen. The day had slipped away, and there wasn't enough time to meet with anyone.

Instead, they went straight to their hotel to check in. Jamie's room was conveniently situated next to Ben's, while the assistant was assigned a room farther away.

Later that evening, Jamie was in the shower, enjoying the warm cascade of water, the bathroom filling with a light mist. Without warning, the showerhead stopped working. She fiddled with it, hoping it was a minor glitch, but the flow didn't resume.

"A fancy hotel like this, and they can't even keep the water running," she muttered, drying off before stepping out to get dressed. That was when she realized that her suitcase wasn't in the room. Spinning around in a mild panic, Jamie clutched her towel. It hit her then that the luggage was still with the assistant. He had returned Ben's suitcase but had somehow forgotten hers. Staring at her limited options, she deliberated. There was no way she could go to the assistant in her current state, and his phone was likely dead anyway, judging by his complaints at the airport. That left one option. With a resigned sigh, she called Ben. "Ben, are you free? My suitcase was left with the assistant, and-"

Before she could finish, Ben cut her off. "I brought it up for you. Open the door. It's right here."

Surprised, Jamie tightened the towel around her and cracked open the door, her wet hair dripping onto her shoulders. She stretched an arm out cautiously. "Thanks. Just hand it over."

Ben's gaze lingered on her for a beat longer than she was comfortable with, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Why are you hiding like I'm here to eat you? Besides, like this, you can't even carry it."

He reached forward, nudging her hand away lightly. Jamie scowled at him, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "What do you expect me to do? Parade around like this?"

"I can always come in," he offered casually, taking a step forward.

"No way!" Jamie tightened her grip on the door, glaring daggers at him.

Ben raised a brow and leaned in slightly. His foot nudged the door open wider, rendering her resistance useless. His voice turned playful, his tone tinged with teasing. "You act tough, but we both know you're too soft hearted for that."

Jamie glared at him but finally relented with an annoyed huff. "Fine, come in. But make it quick."

Ben stepped inside, the faintest

trace of a smirk playing on his lips. Jamie, still clutching her towel tightly, accepted the suitcase, her hand brushing his for the briefest moment. His warmth startled her, and she stiffened instinctively.

"I've got it now. You can go," she said quickly, hoping to shoo him out.

Ben arched an eyebrow, his voice laced with amusement. "And leave without a proper thank-you? That doesn't seem fair."

Jamie rolled her eyes, swallowing a retort. He was impossible. The thought crossed her mind that his stubborn refusal to leave was just his way of dragging this moment out. "You want to play this game? Fine. What's it going to take for you to leave?" she demanded, exasperated.

Ben's expression shifted, and for a moment, his gaze turned serious. His voice dropped to a soft murmur, heavy with unspoken emotion. "The real question is, Jamie, what will it take for you to finally let me in?"

His voice was soft, like a fleeting breeze that seemed it might vanish in the blink of an eye.
