Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 701

Everett was back in familiar territory, though it felt a bit different this time around. It was the same old Bennett Corporation he had known for years.

As the elevator doors slid open on the top floor, Everett stepped out with his confident long strides. His suit was sharp, his posture impeccable, and his presence even more commanding than before.

Alex, holding an enormous bouquet, stood with other staff members ready to welcome him. She approached, all smiles, and said, "Mr. Everett, welcome back!"

Everett's gaze flickered from the bouquet to Alex's overly cheerful face, his eyes slightly chilly. With a curt tone, he asked, "Are all the board members here?"

Alex's smile faltered for a moment. Something felt off, but she brushed it aside- Mr. Everett was known for his relentless work ethic. Diving back into work was just

his way!

She quickly nodded. "Yes, they're all here."noveldrama

Everett gave a brief nod and made a beeline for the conference room. Alex exchanged a puzzled glance with Derick, who shrugged, equally clueless.

Alex sighed, "What am I supposed to do with these flowers? They cost a fortune!"

Derick, who had already started to walk away, turned back and grabbed the bouquet. "Thanks."

Alex shot him a look. "Who said you could have them? You owe me on Venmo!"

The meeting stretched on for the entire afternoon. The board members walked in full of energy but shuffled out looking defeated. They had underestimated Everett, thinking his health was failing, only to be met with a steely glare that left them weak-kneed. He was like a machine-unfeeling and intense!

Everett returned to his office without a break and instructed Derick to gather all the crucial documents from the past year for his review.

Knock, knock-

Alex tapped lightly on the door before entering. She set down a hefty stack of papers and hesitated before timidly suggesting, "Mr.

Everett, should I book the ear no

flight to Northtown so you can see Mrs. Everett and the kids?"

She had assumed he would head to Northtown right after Germany.

Everett frowned, looking up from his paperwork, his dark eyes piercing. "Alex, since when do you make decisions for me?"

His voice was chilly and detached, leaving Alex's heart pounding. She swallowed nervously, shook her head, and didn't dare speak out of turn again.

"Make me a coffee," he said dismissively, returning to his documents.

Alex, feeling shaky, left the room. As she made the coffee, her mind buzzed with questions. He hadn't asked about his wife and kids, which meant he remembered them yet his reaction was so cold.

Mr. Everett loved his wife so much he would lay down his life for her. This aloofness just didn't add up!

Meanwhile, Selena had been glued to her phone, waiting for Everett's call ever since she saw the news.

But after a whole day, the phone net

was silent. She even wondered if there was a signal issue or if her bill was overdue.

Everything with the phone was fine, but as night fell, Everett still hadn't reached out.
