Chapter 90
Chapter 90:
Matthew’s body leaned over. Dolores couldn’t help but move backwards. However she didn’t have much room to move as the back of the seat was behind her.
Soon his sturdy pecs pressed against her, almost seamless. She could clearly feel his temperature. She stiffened without having the guts to move.
Matthew licked her hair behind her ear and his lips moved to her cheeks. In a deep voice, he said in a long tone, “You only want to leave after you have served yourself to me. Where is my reward?” Dolores did not answer.
At this moment, she regretted having used him to take revenge on Mary.
Matthew stood up slightly and helped her buckle her seat belt. Throughout the whole process, Dolores dared not resist any longer.
It was true that she had used him.
Matthew withdrew his body, starting the engine. The car roared away.
Leaning against the car window, Dolores thought for a long moment before speaking again, “A moment ago I used you without your permission. I was rude. How much do you want?”
Matthew was speechless.
He wanted to shout back, “Do I look like I’m short of money?”
“I don’t need money.”
Hearing that, Dolores couldn’t keep her cool. “Then what’s the reward you want?”
He cocked his head and looked at her, his black eyes full of tenderness and playfulness. “How about returning the favor with your body?” Dolores was too shocked to speak.
All she could think about was getting away from him as soon as possible.
How could she not realize sooner that he was shameless?
Was he a rascal?
Matthew laughed, shooting a look into her eyes. “Are you cursing me in your heart?”
Dolores’s face suddenly tightened, wondering if she had said what she was thinking a moment ago.
Had he heard it?
Stammering, she tried to explain, “No. I don’t.” Matthew curved his lips and remained silent.
Dolores felt a pang of guilt. She wanted to change the subject, so she asked cautiously, “Where are we going?”
“I’m hungry.” He stared.
Sweat broke out on Dolores’ body. She didn’t dare speak any more.
Whatever she said, Matthew would surely twist the meaning.
“What are you thinking about?” Matthew turned to look at her.
She seemed to him to be a little pale. As if realizing something, she laughed. “I’m not going to eat you. I meant I’m hungry for food.” Dolores was still silent.
Her face suddenly flushed. She had misunderstood him now.
It was well that she had misunderstood.
But she had been found out by him.
She felt very embarrassed.
Ducking her head, she wished she could bury herself in a crack in the floor.
Matthew’s gaze rested on her ruddy cheeks, his lips curved.
Soon he parked the car in front of a restaurant entrance.
Dolores glanced outside the car window. It was a Chinese restaurant.
She unbuckled her seat belt, pushed open the car door and got out.
Matthew was waiting for her in front of the car. “The food served at this Chinese restaurant is good.”
Dolores answered him with a faint nasal sound. However, she didn’t dare to look at him.
As if something had occurred to her, she suddenly raised her head. “This lunch is on me.”
Matthew moved closer, putting his arm over her shoulder. His posture matched hers at that moment. He said ambiguously, “You want to drive me away with just such a lunch?”
As he spoke, his breath brushed through the hair around her ear.
He seemed to be flirting with her.
Dolores looked away, regretting it very much.
If she had known it would end like this, she would not have provoked him just to get back at Maria.
She felt she had dug her own grave.
She had made Maria angry.
But what about herself?
She had to put up with him teasing her.
“I only borrowed your name. One meal is enough.” Dolores straightened her shoulders. Without the support, Matthew had to lower his arm.
“Come on.”
Dolores took a step first and stepped inside.
She found she was always passive when facing Matthew.
She couldn’t be like that anymore.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t end, as he could always ask her to do something as long as she kept at this business.
She had to go around the table and take the initiative.
Matthew looked at her slender back and touched the corner of his lips, smiling.
After entering the restaurant, Dolores chose a table by the French window and sat down.
Matthew walked toward her leisurely, sitting across from her.
A waiter brought them a menu.
Taking the menu, Dolores handed it to Matthew. “I’ve never been here before, so I don’t know your special dishes. Please go ahead and order.”
Matthew glanced at her, knowing what she had in mind. He didn’t expound and got the menu. Then he ordered a few of the special dishes they served in the restaurant and closed the menu. “That’s all,” he said.
The waiter picked up the menu again. “Very well. One moment, please. The dishes will be served soon.” And he left.
As he waited for the dishes to be served, Matthew propped his forehead with one hand, his gaze sweeping Dolores’ face from side to side.
Under his gaze, Dolores felt uncomfortable. She reached up to touch her face. “Is there something on my face?”
“No.”noveldrama
“Then what are you looking at?”
“Your beauty.”
Dolores was speechless.
She dodged his gaze. “What a bore.” Before long, the waiter brought them their plates.
They were all special dishes, which Dolores had never tasted before. She felt hungry as soon as she saw them, wondering how they would taste.
Matthew served her a bowl of soup. “Try this.”
She didn’t see any ingredients in the soup, but it was white and sticky, and emanated a faint aroma.
She had planned to have lunch with Theresa, but they ran into Mary and wasted a lot of time. Now she was really hungry.
Especially after smelling the faint aroma of soup, she couldn’t wait to start eating.
She used a spoon to scoop up some soup and took a sip. It was fresh and creamy.
“Do you like it?” Matthew stared at her expression.
Dolores nodded. “Yes.” Indeed, it tasted good.
“And this.” Matthew picked up a piece of shrimp cake and put it on his plate.
Dolores looked down, concentrating on her soup.
She wasn’t used to Matthew’s kindness and care.
She suddenly lost her appetite.
She felt quite restless.
“Why did you call off the engagement?”
She wondered if it really was as Victoria had said…all because of her.
Taking a sip of water, Matthew asked, “Why did you suddenly ask?”
Dolores looked at him, “I just want to know.”
Matthew set the glass of water down unhurriedly. Then he looked at her. “We didn’t click, so I canceled. There’s no other reason.”
Of course there was…where there was expectation, there would be disappointment.
How could it be because of her?
She put on a self-mocking smile.
She laughed at her illusions.
She was sure it was impossible, but she kept hoping.
“Mr. Nelson, Miss Herbert has been with you for a long time. You left her all of a sudden. How heartless.”
Carefully chewing the shrimp cake, Matthew put down his chopsticks, as if lost in thought.
A while later, he slowly asked, “What did you just call me?”
“Mr. Nelson.” replied Dolores almost unconsciously.
He made a serious comment to her, “I don’t like this title.”
“So, President Nelson?” Dolores changed to another.
“Neither.”
Dolores was speechless.
Matthew took another piece of shrimp cake, which looked like a white jade, popped it in his mouth and chewed slowly. His lips parted slightly. “I think ‘honey’ is nicer to hear.”
